Here's a thought. Next year, why not run the NASCAR all-star race (I'm gonna go ahead and just call it The Winston because I have no idea what its real name is these days) on the Charlotte dirt track instead of the big track?
How do we make this happen?
building seating capacity for 100,000+ fans and pit stalls for 43 cars on the oval would be a good start..

All Star race doesn't require either.
25K stands and old school short track pits would work, as they could tweak the format to not require "hot pits"... especially since they tweak the format every year anyway. Put all seats on EBay, and fill the place with the highest bidders.

I enjoyed the hell outta that race. If only the cars were still based on production models it would be badass.
Imagine Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge cars racing at Eldora!
does that series have it's roots in (and a derive a good chunk of it's fan base from) the dirt ovals of the American south?
Does it have to for someone to imagine it?
My imagination and comment was sparked by Lancer's thought on racing at Eldora with production-based cars, Conti cars are production-based racecars.
CTSCC does have roots in the south, IMSA was NASCAR's idea and it's a NAPSCAR property.

i'm pretty sure NASCAR sells more than 25k tickets to the all star race every year.. and why would they run their all star race on a style of track that they don't run on the rest of the year? that would be like the NFL having their all star game be a badminton tournament..

For the spectacle and publicity.
Or for the same reason they run on road courses twice a year.
I'm sure it'll never happen, but it would be really cool.
