I have a 05 4 cylinder colorado with a noisy engine.I took the serpentine belt off to isolate the noise from being anything belt driven. It starts easily, doesn’t smoke, and doesn’t have water or metal visible in the oil. I appreciate any help.

initial thought was flywheel bolts. Had a Chrysler minivan that sounded a lot like that with a cracked flywheel.

It spun a rod bearing.  It's junk.

In general , flywheel/flexplate noise is more noticeable at idle when there is no load.

A rod bearing is at a load/no load similar to yours but sounds like a hammer.
