Hyundai Sonata making 500 whp on a completely stock engine "oil pan to valve cover". Tons of 90s/early 2000s Hyundais came with the G4JS Sirius engine (called 4G64 in DSM land), which is a stroker 2.4L version of the Lancer Evolution engine. According to this guy, almost no documentation is out there, because why would anyone do this. But he is figuring it out.

Out on the road

And on the dyno

So buy now before they become priced beyond affordability in the next ~5-10 years when everyone catches on?

Damn, I could have had one for nothing a few years ago.

This brings back memories and knowledge long forgotten by me lol.

Hyundai Sonata in 1989-90 had the 4gcs engine which is basically a 6bolt 4g64 (2.4l 4cyl)

The g4js is like the early 2000's iteration. Just like how the 4g63 in the DSM (6bolt and 7bolt) were different.

In my Galant VR4 used a 4gcs block with the 2.0 4g63 crank (88mm) and custom rods and pistons to make essentially a 2.1-2.2 destroker. I think my rods were 159mm and Wiseco made me pistons who wrist pins were offset by a number I no longer remember. The 2.4 block has a higher deck height as well compared to the 2.0 blocks. I think 235mm (2.4) to 229mm (2.0).

Now I have the urge to get another dsm or galant vr4.

The Millens ran an Accent with this set-up in European style rallycross for a number of years.

This guy is local to me and I see him out at a lot of the car meets. The car now has hoosiers and a hood dump. It's definitely a cool build and the owner (Travis) is a super nice guy.

I remember an issue of SCC where someone stuffed a boosted to the moon 4G63 in an Excel (I think) They trolled street racers. No one expected it.
