2014 Versa. Customer ruined the trunk lock cylinder. (Don't ask...) So I look up some prices. Trunk lock cylinder H4660-3BA0A retails $157.60 Ok. No big deal.
So I look up a complete lock set (Door, trunk and steering lock) K9810-3BA0C retails $122.70. Yep. The 3 lock set is less than the trunk lock. But wait! There is more... Just for grins I looked up the steering lock by itself. D8700-1HL0A retails $391.67. Insane... I just cannot wrap my brain around this kind of math.

Wild guess, but could it be that the prices of the individual locks include being built to match an existing key?

Nope. Just goofy pricing. I just do not understand how a lock set with 3 locks can be less money than any of the 3 locks individually... The steering lock by itself is more than 3 times the amount of the set.

Thats because you dont think like a buzzness person. The lock that is most likely to be destroyed (theif, ham-fisted owner, etc.), and paid for by the insurance, is also the most expensive...what a surprise.
