Eating quick, cheap food for a week straight doesn’t do your digestive system any favors. Call it an unexpected impact of competing in the Tire Rack One Lap of America Presented by Grassroots Motorsports.
Despite that, our One Lap team, Tom Suddard and Andy Hollis, carry on the good fight from behind the wheel of their Hyundai Ioniq 5 …

Wow the Ioniq 5 N can move on a drag strip, that is a lot of car going fast.
And it was consistent, too! 11.15, 11.16, 11.19
Anyone else remember when a 12-second car was fast?

I remember when 13 seconds was fast. It's hard to believe that thing can accellerate as well as it does, but I'm hoping that the typical owner won't know it's that fast or drive it like they stole it. As stated by Chris T, that is a lot of car going fast. Hopefully brakes are up to the task of slowing it down. I would hate to see high schoolers taking their mom's Ioniq and driving it aggressively.
Those ets are consistent plus.....
A damn decent 60 ft time
Crazy for the weight.

Dang a set of drag radials away from being a 10 sec car!
That seems super quick. How did your car/team rank in the drag results? How did it affect your overall placement?
In reply to David S. Wallens :
I still think of 12s as quite quick, to be honest. 11s in a CUV seems absurd!

8th overall in ET, and 3rd round eliminated in the brackets. Didn't really affect our placement this late in the game--we're still in the high-20s overall.
It's not surprising the car is good at the drags. That's a real strong point for EVs.

Yeah, I would have expected the drags to be the N's strong point and it appears that the 8th place overall finish backs that up.
I can tell you that the standard non-N Spec Ionic is not an 11 second car, having rented one recently. It's quick, running low 13s, which is awesome for a regular street car. Off the line acceleration is an EV's magic trick.
What was your best lap time at VIR?
11.1 in the quarter is still fast! That's about what a C6 Z06 with a good driver is good for.

What was the ideal drive modes? NGB or launch control?

Launch control gives you NGB w/o the button

I ran a 2:14, but it's definitely got more in it with some practice. I never built up the confidence to flat-foot this big thing through the esses.
I expect Andy to pop in another k24 in a half hour and continue the one-lap
In reply to Tom Suddard :
Thanks for the reply. I am assuming that this is a different track set up than what Car & Driver uses for the Lightning Lap as their best time was over 3 minutes a lap.

Totally absurd–and very impressive times. So with the right tires, this one can get into the 10s? :D
Anyone else constantly refreshing waiting for the updates from the final 2 days of One Lap?
I always enjoying following along with the GRM effort every year and I'm anxious to see the final result(s) for Andy and Tom this year!

Lightning Lap, iirc, uses VIR's "Grand Course" which is a combination of the "original" Full Course and the Patriot Course inside of it that got added during the revival of the track in ~2000(?).
I'm fairly certain OneLap used just the regular Full Course configuration.
