My sisters fun car has lived in her garage for the last few years. So the 14 year old and I are bringing it home to enjoy revitalizing it. After maintenance and cleaning, then what? At some point it is going to be a HPDE and tail of the dragon summer evening car.
Having just bought a silver and tan 01 yesterday, drive it. A lot. Make a list of things that either don't work, or bother you. Repeat as needed. 200 miles in mine today....

oh boy. It must have been damp in the garage. Moldy everywhere inside. Poor car looks to have never been washed. Glass has come out of the top. 1/4" of dirt everywhere. But! We put a fresh battery in and it started right up. Idles perfectly. New tires. Fresh looking oil. So the 14 year old has his work cut out for him. He will clean it and fix it. And be the first to drive it.
Give me a call next week, we'll work something out :) Not this week, SEMA.

How old are the new tires??
What do you mean, "Now what?" You drive the E36M3 out of it!!!!
Or you could just give it to me if you don't know what to do with it. I love miatas.
Change all the fluids and the tires.
Brake fluid, clutch cylinder, coolant, engine, transmission and rear end oil.
If it was damp all the fluids are full of water and/or deteriorated.
And tire's shelf life expires.
You may want to test drive it first before turning a teen loose with something that may not have brakes.
