Hello all. About 4 months ago my 2012 nissan frontier pro-4x automatic went into limp mode. Truck had about 75000 miles. Stuck in 2nd gear, no reverse. Got home, checked with a code reader and found the p1774 code, low coast brake solenoid. Cleared the code, drove to the store and it happened again as i pulled into the parking lot. On way home, it did it again. I would be cruising along, the trans shifts hard and the check engine light pops up.

assuming it was a solenoid flaking out, i pulled the valve body and replaced the solenoids. New filter while i was in there. New fluid. Went on many short drives with no prob. It went back into daily use. Well with working from home, i only put 1500 miles on it in the last 4 months. No errors again until monday. Same thing, p1774 error. The solenoids were replaced with exact factory replacements when i did it months ago.  The pins for the valve body computer had good continuity. Older models would break a lead and cause the issue. Not this one.

I drove the truck about 40 minutes today, no issues. Anyone got any ideas? Last thing i want to do is have to take it in for a shop to work on. From what i read online, they will just want to replace the trans and that should not be necessary.

I wonder if the valve it activates is sticking in the bore and not returning.

It could be the ATF Pressure Switch 2, it monitors if the coast solenoid is working.
