Wait. Am I the only one wondering what the heck a "taycan" is other than the stupidest car name ever?

Is it pronounced like Pecan in the south or Pecan everywhere else?

I like how it looks, particularly the interior.

Beautiful car, the .22 aero is outstanding.

I would expect better from Porsche than to use the "Turbo" badging,

but perhaps it is better than coming up with some silly electricity name, spelled wrong, like Kurrent.  :)

Random consumer products using the word turbo is bad enough. But that was likely driven by marketing that didn’t know any better. I’m disappointed in Porsche, they definitely should know better. And it seems a bit condescending to it’s customers- “let’s call it a Turbo, our customers are idiots and will think it’s cool.” And it’s not like there is any shortage of cool sounding electrical words that the could have used that would have at least been relevant.

I can see it now, the 2030 electric Mustang will have 5.0 badges. The top of the line electric Ram will say “HEMI.” Don’t forget the electric Hondas with VTEC badges.

Embarassing, IMO

(Yes I know it's about marketing and I won't lose any sleep over it.)

Two other points:

1. Marketing that's making people dumber/misinformed about parts of an automobile.

2. Marketing that glorifies "old" technology. (may as well call it the Wagon Wheel:)

You mean, like a metal cylinder that you urinate into?

The naming convention is silly but I like the car in general.

I’m excited for these components to trickle-down more than anything else. Sign me up when there’s a simpler $80k “Carrera S” RWD model with longer range.

this horrible boom box has turbo bass

If it had a rotary subwoofer that would've been sort of like turbo bass cheeky

Maybe instead of "Turbo" they could've called it "overvolt" or "supercap," but then they'd have to actually add those features laugh

I don't wonder, I KNOW it's the stupidest car name ever. May be something else too but that's irrelevant.

Worse that Touareg, Tiguan, Arteon, or Routan?  It's like the VW Group's branding team just gave up because 'all the good names were taken'

VW's marketing department also wasn't smart enough to know that a phaeton doesn't have a hard top or roll-up windows.

Or, for that matter, that putting a brand name on a $100,000 car that meant "People's Car" was horrible brand management.

Germans have been selling 4 door "coupe" versions of just about everything for the last few years. They clearly don't care about proper naming and are only concerned with marketing. It's easier to just name it so the public can relate than it is to educate that same public about why the name is stupid.

Two miscellaneous thoughts: 1st: Kudos to Tesla for building cars that stack up so well to the best that the worlds premier performance car company can produce. 2nd: Tesla made a mistake with the "autopilot" name. So Porsche just threw a stupid name of their own into the fray. Who's next?

I thought that it was just one syllable short of being a new prescription drug in a TV ad.  If you put “ex” or “za” at either end it would work.

Doesn't each of those names have an actual meaning? I see people get upset about cars being named with random letters and numbers and now we're mad at actual names lol
