I like this treatment.

Peel off the Texaco stickers, lose the roof rack + stuff, and throw on some decent tires and a set of panasport style wheels.
Then I likey.
I am not sure what to think of the treatment, I would be inclined to lose the stickers and the white walls, maybe lose the roof rack when not needed. I do like a good satin black car though.
Mint interior!
Odd, sort of show car collection of roof items. I am not sure why the fire extinguisher is better off on the roof instead of close to the driver or in the weatherproof trunk.
Oddly, the garage looks familiar like I have seen it in pictures here before. Maybe some other featured bmw.
Edit: I take back my comment of mint interior, the dash has typical cracks. I guess it is just a reupholstered interior.
Further look at the fire extinguisher shows that it had no quick disconnect. Seems it is held to the rack by two silver band clamps. Not really emergency accessibility.

And then give it a decent paint job. I'm soooo tired of matte black.

Like I said... "trying too hard"
I think the wide whites on red wheels are there to match the red & white Texaco stickers on black paint. Which I really can't get behind.
Throw on some bumpers sucked up close to the body work and then Panasports or even some other stock BMW wheels and get rid of that plastic factory steering wheel and it would be much more to my liking. Maybe turn the roof rack into a small picnic table.
As a collector of Texaco Automobilia, I am strangely attracted to this 2002.
With that being said, I do find the Texaco decals to be odd, especially on a German Car. I like this look, but I'm sick of the matte colors too. A gloss black with the red wheels and big whites is kind of fun to me.
The car and the style are completely incongruous, but I sort of like the finished product. Sort of.
BTW, I think the seller's Texaco reference in the Ebay ad is incorrect. My understanding was that the red stripe in the BMW Motorsport logo represents Castrol, a major partner with BMW in early racing efforts. I've never heard of any association with Texaco, which in turn makes the whole thing a bit silly.
Ford had the Sierra Cosworths with the Texaco liveries...
Methinks someone did not googles Texaco race car ;)
I'd rust the hood and widen the steelies another 3" to make sure I nailed literally every single current automotive faux-pax. E36M3 that thing is UGLY!
