Reading through GRM at lunch today, I saw an ad for this trade show in Indianapolis IN December 12-14.

I've been looking to get more involved in, well, everything over the next year or so. Thinking about SCCA convention in March, I want to volunteer at Mid OH to work a few races, etc. This is only 2hrs from home, and I'd even take a day off Friday to avoid a Saturday crowd.

Is anyone else going? Is it worth it? (I do rallycross, might try a few autocrosses next year, and even a PDX.) What do you guys think?

Never mind, just saw this: "You must be an authorized member of a racing industry company to attend."

You raced in a sanctioned event right?

PRI is a great show geared to performance and racing more so than SEMA. I've been the last 5 years or so. I'm out this year since they moved it to the frigid north from sunny Florida

The show is worth going if you can make it. I have been going for the last four years. Not sure if I will make it this time since they moved it.

Make a business card with your "race team" name on it. You'll get in. I'll be working a booth there.

The PRI show is much easier for the layperson to get into than SEMA. If you can come up with a legitimate reason to be there (selling sponsorship for your racing effort, looking for partners for your SCCA regional program, scouting suppliers for a business venture, etc.) you can probably get credentialed. Don't abuse the privilege, and be a good participant and you'll be fine.

I'll be there as well, I've been to it for the past 8 years or so...

I'm not looking forward to Indy in December as much a I did Orlando... When I was tearing down at the IMIS show two years ago, they opened the cargo bay doors, and it was bloody cold!

PRI is great for a real racer compared to SEMA... SEMA is kinda, well, boobs and hubcaps comparatively. I have fun at both shows, but I really enjoy PRI better, as the products are more what I'm concerned with as opposed to 24" rims.

I'll be there. Kind of wish it was still in Orlando, but it'll be interesting to see if Indy gets a different crowd.

It's worth going at least once since you're so close. Interesting to people watch, and see all the businesses/products you had no idea existed.

When it was still the IMIS show last year, they offered a bus tour out to Brownsburg to tour the Schumacher, Lucas, and Vance & Hines NHRA shops. Seriously cool, and well worth whatever the charge was.

I just submitted a decent letterhead with SCCA logo and my car as a watermark, tried to position it as for my "race team" and my SCCA chapter.

Worst thing they can do is say no.

Doesn't hurt being a stones throw from a large continent of race teams.

I will laugh if it is 70* and sunny here in december.....because thats happened a few times recently.

You pansies need to toughen up about this "I'm too cold nonsense" why would you want to hold any event in Florida? Mid-America is much more accessible....but regardless, if this event was closed to the general public like I understand SEMA is, I wouldn't bother trying to get in.

If I had the time to go, I could easily cobble together a letterhead to get into this event.....

GRM will be in booth #3133 -- we are there every year.

Judging by how many folks are wandering around aimlessly, both SEMA and PRI are pretty easy to get into. I can't tell you how many lookie-loos I nearly ran over at the SEMA show, running from meeting to meeting. Also, if you are drinking a beer at 9am---- chances are you aren't working! This is much more of a SEMA phenomenon than PRI. It seems most folks at SEMA are there to screw off-- while most folks at PRI are there for legitimate reasons.

In the past the PRI show has opened it's doors to the public on Saturday-- anyone can come in. It's worth checking out--- there will be all kinds of cool stuff there. Most of the folks working the booths are very knowledgeable about their products too--- so good information is in abundance.
