Saturday night WOR SCCA had their awards banquet. I had to go to Fairborn to pick up some photographs that were in a showing last weekend anyway, figured I'd get a dinner and see friends I hadn't seen in awhile.
The RE made a small presentation with the 2024 board members, stuff scheduled this year (including an attempt to revive WOR Games and a 3-event thing with AX & a Mid Ohio track day). He showed the board members and under RX had "(open)", and made a little comment about that. Then he dropped the revelation that someone has an 11 acre farm and is interested in having us come run events there...
We talked during dinner (I bought the BRZ's wheels from him) & the farm is in southern Dayton, apparently within 20min or so of my house. He and a person or two are going to go check it out soon, I volunteered to go with them. Probably the only one with RX experience, and at least an idea of what would/wouldn't work as a site.
He showed me a Google Map satellite photo, looks decent, might be divided into two sections with a passage between. If it's wide enough could make an interesting course, or have two areas that we could rotate between like Bitzer did.
I was already planning to come out to AX more, maybe go to some meetings. Maybe this is a sign that I'll get even more involved. I was already looking at cars again, maybe something that can get dirty.
