Grabbed a manual steering rack out of the yard this weekend from a 92 base model.

Putting it into a 93 that has power steering.

Didnt think to check or ask. about the intermediate steering shaft interchangability.

I disconnected the rack down at the rack and left the rest of the shaft in the car.

Do i need that shaft? do the splines match? any difference?

In Spec Miata, we just removed the hoses, and capped the openings on the rack.

"In Spec Miata, we just removed the hoses, and capped the openings on the rack." To keep the faster ratio.

I did this on my '90 Miata many years ago.  The steering shaft fit fine.  I also wanted to remove the power steering pump, and for that you also need the idler pulley used with the manual rack.

If you want to remove your power steering pump and keep your a/c, I have an idler bracket with a new pulley that I'll sell you for less than whatever Treasure Coast wants. PM me If your interested.
