I know we have had a few GRMers asking about rubber-bumper MGBs. At the moment, it's one of the least expensive ways to get into a traditional British roadster. Well, we just posted a buyer guide on the Classic Motorsports site: http://classicmotorsports.net/articles/window-shopper-rubber-bumper-mgb/

Nearly everyone I knew growing up had a dad who bought one of these for his midlife crisis (except for one dad who funnelled his dentist money into a Stingray resto).

I see more of these than any other pre-90s car on the road. Runner-up is probably the TR6. I've thought about it a lot (especially an MGB GT before the prices on those skyrocket), but my Miata seems like 80% of the experience at 10% of the pain.
