I remember he talked bad about lawyers in one of his stories, AW got a ton of letters, probably from lawyers, and he was gone in like a month or so.

Considering the tone found in another 'known' periodicals stable of columnists, it's pretty remarkable how tolerant some(publisher) can be without the fear of retribution.
