So. Help me find a CTS-V.

The couple that are available locally are looking a little a shady.

There's one in Kentucky that has upgraded mounts and diff...but it's in Kentucky, and is silver (not necessarily a deal-breaker, but not my first choice.)

So: Looking for a clean first-gen, preferably black, preferably with upgraded mounts and/or diff., preferably not a bunch of PO's, no northern cars. EDIT: Black interior.

Lemme know if you run across something?

The one in KY is the only one I've found in this area.

I would only partially rule out northern cars. Sometimes with "hot rods" like this you'll find owners that only ran them in summers, so they end up lower mileage and relatively clean.

That is actually a misnomer; southern Indiana is really Northern Kentucky. I wouldn't hesitate, but I'm from Chicago/north central Illinois.

EDIT: I doubt they use salt there.

I have been searching for them almost continuously since I clicked on the thread.

I can't get to the link from my office (blocked) but search CTS-V on the Washington DC craigslist. There's an '04 black one with a Cobra 8.8 Diff with about 90k miles that's been for sale at $16750 a few times. Looks pretty good.

I really like that gray color. I'll have to look at a well cared for example some day. The only one I have looked at closely was a rat, the rear bumper apron was loose and the interior pretty beat up.

Bonus points for that one: being pretty close to me (and have friends there), so if you end up buying it we'll have a good time in Louisville and a place to crash.

Out of your price range, but maybe there is some wiggle room? Only reason I'm posting it is the mileage and town that it is in--26,000 and it is a suburb of Chicago that has a lot of old people. So either this was driven by an old guy, or else it was garaged in lousy weather.
