But, what if you just pull the Lotus motor and swap in something better? Drop in a K20 or SHO V6 or a Northstar? Then you'd have the great looks and handling with reliable horsepower. How hard could it be?

You would need to find or make an adapter to the original transmission. It had inboard brakes.
German electronics + car company with a known reputation for reliability + and forced induction = what could possibly go wrong?

I'm pretty sure it's right in the manual that you are supposed to install a fire suppression sprinkler system in any garage you park a Lotus in.
This is so wrong it makes every lunatic idea I SF1 and Yamaha have ever had, put together, look brilliant.

Local guy did the SHO motor. Of course, he calls it the Shotus.
Buy it. Then James Bond it out.

As a kid the first one I saw was in the Bond movie. My Dad said "what are the odds the English could make doors that didn't leak?" I didn't understand it at that time but my dad seemed to be soured on the Brits ever since the one electrical circuit on his Norton caught fire and burnt his pants.

Don't like Audi's? Well there are adapters for that transaxle to use Ford, GM V8's since the GT40 and Lambo replica guys like them over the uber expensive Porsche and ZF transaxles.
