cat said:Caterpillar has determined independently that it will not supply EPA 2010 compliant engines to truck and other on-highway original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

So.. unless you buy one of these new trucks. You can't get a CAT engine. So no more CAT's in Peterbilts....

They're 2007 technology isn't great and has been selling poorly....

The latest EPA requirements have caught them out on some off-highway equipment as well. I do a lot of work with standby generator sets and Cat has had problems getting some of their engines certified to the latest emissions standards.

On the other hand, I just read in the paper today that Cat is planning a 1 billion dollar expansion of their manufacturing sites in the US.

I work on standyby generators at work, and some of our new ones from the last year or so are CAT's,and I must say while the engine is great the electronics have not been in my opinion. The new John Deere's have been better, and the old Cummins units we have are the best in my opinion.
