Andy is such a nice guy that he would probably tow it down every year for you to work on it in the parking lot.

An 800hp Talon? Good grief!

Anyway, I'd sell everything but the 2002 outright. The 2002 I'd sell "divorce style"- like for $50 to a friend that has a garage it can live in for a couple years, then you can easily buy it back.

Good luck with the P-mobile!

Buy Porsche first. Or a gallardo. Then sell the other stuff to recoup. Otherwise, yer gonna be driving a minivan man or right after you sell all your toys your wife will suddenly feel the need for more space and before you know it 20 years have gone by that you didn't get to enjoy, your soul was sucked out of you and you are still driving a minivan. BTDT. Tread carefully to not find yourself 10 years down the road with many regrets.

What are the cars realistically worth? I'm guessing not a substantial portion of a $45k car. Registration and insurance should be pretty low on those cars. Would it be worth it to keep one or two, and get a newer car? I was in the same situation, and I found that while I didn't have much time for the project cars with the kids, I didn't need to work on them much since the new daily driver ate up most of the miles. I definitely would be regretting it now if I had sold my Miata or Galant VR4.

Liquidate the fleet and bank $$ in a dedicated account. Get baby 2.0 released. Observe new family dynamic and reflect on what seems right for the current situation.

The graph of effort vs. number of babies is weird. Baby#2 increases work much more that 2x. Probably between 3x and 4x. The good news is baby#3 is a much smaller step and bab#4 is hardly noticeable. That's as far and I went, but I imagine the trend flattens out.
The point of that is a question, is this a daily, or a toy to replace all toys? Do you regularly autocross or do track stuff?

In reply to EVERYONE:

Thanks for the advise all. A couple of additional details. Feedback was more focused than I expected.

1) I have a Silverado that is the DD and will remain as such

2) I do track days, autocross, and some car meets... I would also like something I could do road trips in

3) Probably only looking at logging 4-6K miles a year in whatever I get

4) The price delta isn't really the consideration here, It is the complexity. I really want something I can just jump into and drive when I need to get out of the house.

5) A GT3 would be awesome, but finances wont allow at this time.

6) I'm afraid the BMW 2002 Challenge car will likely be a casualty in this process. As many of you know my wife does not know this car exists and the $200/month workshop for the vehicle is part of the equation for the future purchase. I would really like to see it through, but unless I can pull off some wizardry with the wife, I believe it is going to have to go.

Sit her down and tell her that you have something you need to tell her in a very serious voice. Explain that you've been keeping a secret from her and you can't stand it. Then explain the 2002. She'll be so happy that you don't have a mistress that she won't care about the 2002.

Sell everything but the trailer and buy a 911. Get a 996 Turbo, they're beginning to appreciate and have a bullet proof motor.

Bear in mind that the speeds you'll attain with the 911 will make you want proper (rollbar, seats, harnesses, HANS) in the car for track work...

Is that not what got you into this mess in the first place?

I might go ahead and buy the newer Porsche, then sell the current fleet to start paying it off....to avoid the trap you know!

Selling the other items will give you room for the 2002. Keep the 2002. Get A Cayman, not a 911 .... unless you like being bested by Caymans at autocrosses.
Tell your wife the Cayman and 2002 were a package deal.

Time to drive the 911, Corvette, Elise, and GT-R, and ask yourself what you really prefer. Then sell one car, buy the new one, then sell the others.

Pregnancy made my wife a little crazy, I would proceed with caution. However it sounds like there's a lot to be said about simplifying with a 2nd one on the way.

where was the inflection in her voice? This could have been misunderstood sarcasm. I'd do it and blame it on a misunderstanding. Take it the "Dumb and Dumber" route - so your saying there's a chance!

Careful. Unless your wife is like mazdeuces, i suspect a trap. Not to many women would suggest just going and buying a porsche.
