OK, I'm not a Honda fanboi by any stretch of the imagination. But seeing the FF roadster and that it weighs ~2300lbs with a castiron block 302 in it made the imagination churn. Wrecked S2K + FF Roadster kit = ????profit???

Wouldn't make any of the right noises, IMO, and it would be way down on torque. And if you choose the S2K engine, you'll still need a lot of Fox body suspension parts.

I understand that... BUT... the S2K is a 2800lb car. Putting it into a chassis that is starting at a MINIMUM of 500lbs less the torque is a non-issue. I would guess it's be closer to 2200lbs all told with the smaller, lighter engine and trans. If you used the S2K rear axle with longer arms you could retain the rear IRS as well and use the fox frt.

Keep in mind this is merely a mental exercise to get someone ELSE with the means to do it so I can see if it works or not. lol

I am going to stick a F20C/Tranny with ITB's and a dump exhaust and 9.5K+ springs in a 28 OG steel roadster within the next two or three years if I have the space. So your not even beginning to disgrace yourself.

Sounds awesome, and i bet you're actually underestimating the weight difference.

Even better/cheaper:

Buy wrecked Miata for donor things. Sell off things including motor. Buy new K24 Miata swap kit. Attach K24 to Miata things. Drop in FF roadster. Weigh less, make more powers. Still have many braps and vtaks.

I think the S2k engine would be awesome on a LOCOST/7 replica.

If you just came in here and said what should I swap the S2k engine into, I would say Cortina or early Euro RWD Escort.

Consider the AC ace the Cobra was based on had a 4-cylinder, so I don't see the problem. It's not as if FF claim the cars are supposed to be original, they are in many ways better than an original. Also it's not as if Shelby was beyond changing any of the cars to make them faster. Do it and enjoy YOUR car.

I say this because I want to build one with a Chrysler 2.5 Turbo with a Shelby valve cover on it. Basically the best of both worlds, IMO. Ultimately though, it would be MY car and I wouldn't care too much what others thought.

Yes, but but go with a 289 kit with the narrow rear fenders.

I plan this but with a Mercedes/Cosworth 2.3 16v and getrag.

Will the F20c clear the hood height of a 190E? I understand that it is a tall-ish motor. In any event, I like the way you think.

I had this same kind of thought a couple years before the FFR HotRod came out. I was thinking of a fiberglass body highboy '32 (for lightness) with an SR20DET driveline. I figured you could show up at any cars how, domestic or import, and be the most hated guy there. Seemed like a good idea.

This is what I was going to suggest! I think that a 4 cyl in a narrow body kit would be much better.

You don't have to go import if you just want a high winding turbo engine

Put the K24 in the cobra because K series > F series. And call it a kobra.

I still really want to build that Daytona coupe with a P port 3 rotor. Because massive lumpy cam v8 sounding idle, silly looking foreign engine and screaming high redline.

Note I didn't say Locost.. not very low cost, just an excellent and very fast build.

I all but ignore V8 Cobra replicars at this point.

Not because they're not sexy as hell but because I KNOW what's under the hood.

Seeing one but hearing a high-revving 4? It'd be a magnet to me!

They had various inline sixes. AC, Bristol, Ford.
