The 24 Hours of Lemons returns to Sebring International Raceway this weekend, May 8-9, for the 2021 Yokohama Southern Discomfort–and we are entered to compete.

The race follows a seven-year absence from the track, following what Lemons called a “miserably hot and generally unpleasant July 4 weekend” back in 2014.

What exactly will be our noble steed for this event? Why, none other than “Doorknob,” a 1997 Mazda Miata that is, essentially, a pile of spares that Nine Lives Racing (the folks behind the aero package on our VW Fox racer) uses for product development and track days.

And, yes, before you ask, this Miata lost its original windshield.

What do we hope to learn from this adventure? Both the potential benefits and pitfalls of arrive-and-drive racing in the 24 Hours of Lemons. Come watch.

Special thank yous goes out to Konig Wheels and SPA Technique for delivering some last-minute parts as we prep for Lemons.

The Sebring in the lede photo is a nice, meta touch.

Myself and a few friends will be racing in an orange Mario bros themed civic. See ya there!

Sebrings get free entry to this race.

Wish I could be there for this one, as Sebring is my home track, and I’ve never done a Lemons race before.  Maybe next year...

I am sad I'm missing this one. We won class C at the original Humidi TT on July 4th 2014. What an incredible track to race. To any who haven't been, the braking lines get REALLY slippery when it rains.

That's an interesting roll cage. Details?

Random question, is it me, or did Lemons never take off in Florida like Cha(u)mp car did? Since I've started autocrossing I've met so many people that compete in Champcar, but rarely anyone whose driven at a Lemons race.
