Yeah, that wouldn't be that helpful but it did send me on a warp-speed 3 second brainstorm about using a selectable locking center differential and selectable brake on the rear output as a 'gear splitter' cheeky

VWAG engines with the Audi bolt pattern (any 5, 6, or 8 with a timing belt) will bolt to the Boxster transmission.  The 07K five is a four cylinder pattern, and I don't know about the timing chain V6s and V8s.  VR6 is right out but there are adaptors to mate up where a five used to go.

 

This is where it is/was popular to put Audi V8s in Boxsters.  It amazes me that they fit smiley
