We followed Pastrana on recce A couple years ago and he was just driving a rental Corolla (We were driving my crew chief's 4Runner). Sometimes I see the SRT guys in regular old Impreza and other times they are just in random rental cars. Most of the lower budget privateer teams just use their tow rigs for recce at US rallies.

It took a loong time for M-Sport to stop using the Volvos they had. Some of the modern ones are the new Subarus like SRT guys use now, Sean Johnson actually had Seb Ogiers old one for Recce at Turkey.
