Two observations:
-I can't believe that Budd was still making car bodies in 1987.
-The saxophone threw me off. I guess you're not the Pina Colada guy after all...

In reply to Woody: Woody, Budd plants are still making car body parts. Only now they are owned by Martin Rea Heavy Stamping out of Canada. That buyout happened in about 2007. We had body plants still operating in Philly, Kitchner On., Detroit, & Shelbyville Ky. till well into the 21st Century. In fact almost every single exterior panel on the Gen I and Gen II Ford Explorers and the Gen 1 BMW X5 were stamped and assembled by Budd. Plus the Dodge Prowler was also a Budd body. We also had a brake plant in Tennessee.
The avatar picture is appropriate as I am a horn player from way back. I was even in the U.S. Marine Corps Drum and Bugle Corps for a short while in the early '60s. Then the call of chopper driving for fun in Vietnam drew me away.
I spent most of my working career as an engineer, but have played horns for fun and profit too. I presently own 7 different horns including 3 sizes of saxes.
On another note which you being a 911 guy might find interesting. I worked for Budd at the BMW Dinglefingen plant in Bavaria which makes the BMW 5 & 6 Series sedans in the late 90's. That plant and a couple of others in Bavaria is where we designed and built the assembly lines for the X5 which is assembled in Spartansburg. While I was there almost all the exterior body parts for the 911 were stamped in the Dinglefingen BMW plant.
