Oil starvation under high engine load. The level was fine, so I'm pretty sure its either the pump or the sending unit.
I think you can do way better then a 2nd-gen Neon for that kind of money.
I bought an 03 VW Golf 2.0L for $2K in August 2014. WAY nicer car than a Neon! The 2.0 doesn't have as many CEL issues as the other VW drivetrains.
