I need to replace either a blown fuse or relay to the fuel system in my Escort. Where would I be able to find a wiring diagram online instead of having to dish out for a Haynes Manual?

The public library in the reference section. Mitchels books?. bring a roll of dimes for the copier.

Go to autozone.com. Add whatever Ford you are beating on. Click Repair Info on the left. Click Vehicle Repair Guides. Click Chassis Electrical, then over on the right, Electrical Diagrams.

The fuse block under the hood has the fuse for the fuel system, and the cover for the fuse block usually has a legend on it.

As for wiring diagrams. If you want a manual, what you're looking for is the EVTM from Ford. That's an "Electrical Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual."

Edit: Here's a thread on TurboFord where I got my problem figured out. The wire between the relay and the pump burned up completely. John, you sure the Toyota wasn't pushing the Ford?

I do think that Ford trucks were pretty good.

Also, late '80's to mid '90's Ford stuff had fuel pump relays made of rock candy. Many of them just hung in the wiring harness and would fill with water; I had a buddy whose Ranger was continually stalling. I lifted the relay to the vertical position and rusty greenish water started dripping out of it. The relay casing is either blue or green, I forget which.

The later ones had power distribution blocks that used a cheapo version of the ubiquitous Bosch 'ice cube' relay and they were famous for bad relays and loose mounting terminals due to overheating.

Upon further examination by my mechanic, its the timing belt. Is the Escort 1.9 motor an interference or a non-interference motor? Also have people had bent valves when the timing belt goes?

1.9's are freewheelers.
