Hey all, just joined.

Was looking for info on the zx2 platform. Bought one for a daily but was looking for tips on how to wake this little thing up without going crazy plus wheels/tires (stock take offs that will fit).

Thanks guys.

I have owned British cars since 1973, when I bought my first Triumph. Owned up to 7.5 British cars, over the years. Been called a carcheologist and "forensic mechanic". Owned a number of Hondas, autocrossing for 25+ years and road racing for 10 years.

Retired computer nerd.

Lived almost all of my life in Virginia, but moved to SW Florida last year.

Occasional lurker for a number of years. Finally bringing a car to the GRM Challenge. 2003 MINI Cooper

Nothing like a road trip to a car meet in a British car!

Hi! My name is Henry, and I like cars.

I've been inspired by the builds on this site and impressed by the engagement of the community, so I thought I'd join in. I'm hoping to be encouraged to make even more ill-advised automotive decisions.

I try to steer clear of anything practical or modern. Right now I have an E46 M3 convertible, an '88 Trooper, a G60 Corrado, an NA Miata, and a '64 Galaxie.

The miata is a hillclimb car, and I've started a build thread for it over in the build section. I have various poorly thought out plans for my other vehicles, so there's lots of reasons to be here.

Welcome Henry, your hillclimb thread is awesome! Looking forward to reading about the other members of your fleet too.

New guy here, although I subbed to the magazine last year thanks to mazdeuce's inspiring AMG shenanigans.  I am currently getting an '04 Focus SVT ready for SF rallycross action this coming year.  My daily is a '16 FoST, and the other vehicle is a '17 Ridgeline.  I hope to continue to goof with the SVT, and learn how to do a decent weld or two in the future.

Maybe if I start more project threads for my cars, I'll be inspired to work on them more. That's the logic - I just need encouragement to get out into the garage after a long day at work. The response to the hillclimb Miata has been really great, though :)

Howdy all,

I'm relatively new to the car scene and motorsports, but have now finished my 6th track event and will be doing my 7th this coming weekend.  I'm mostly focused on improving my driving abilities with an eventual goal of doing Time Attack.  Currently only have one car, which is doing dual-duty, a 2017 Subaru BRZ.   I'm hoping to pick up a more beater-able project car and maybe a beater truck for a car hauler trailer at some point in the next year or so.

I discovered GSM when I was googling for tips around specific tracks in Texas and found some good threads here.  Currently I've been on Driveway and Harris Hill Raceway, and I'm planning a journey to MSR Cresson and Eagles Canyon at some point in the near future.  Eventually I'd like to branch out and try some of the great tracks elsewhere in the country.

New to the forums, came to post my swap-related question.

Current owner of a 1964.5 Ford Mustang coupe that I'll be EcoBoost 2.3L swapping. Also have a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 1 RS that goes fast when it wants to. Recently sold my 2001 Honda S2000 winter beater after buying a 2013 Infiniti G37x for the bad weather. I miss the S.

Lots of 4G63 and classic Mustang knowledge if anyone needs it, and I'm pretty good at finding rare and obscure stuff.

Hey guys, I'm Pat.

I found this forum about 6 months ago and have been lurking ever since. It has since replaced all the other forums I frequent.

I've been a car nut my whole life.  I made it my career when I was 18 years old, spending time as a tech in VW and Subaru dealerships for over 10 long years.  Long story short, I burned out, blew my career up and started all over as an electrician.  I'm much happier now and as a bonus I still have a huge toolbox of tools.

I have an awesome wife and 2 great little boys (4 and 1).  We have been having a blast, but the tradeoff is my free time for projects has pretty much vanished.  I love that this forum has a lot of members in the same boat, which inspired me to be happy with as little as an hour a week to devote to a project.  I now try to devote thursday evenings (after the kids go to bed) to tinker on stuff, and so far its been working out well.

Right now, I'm in the stage of needing to simplify and get rid of my current projects (that existed before I had kids).  Once we get down tojust two vehicles (F350 and Impreza OBS), I'd like to pick up a third as a daily/autocross car or maybe a fix and flip?  Deciding that will be the fun part, but first I need to thin down my fleet:

1963 Buick Riviera, numbers matching 401

1985 GMC K3500, true 1 ton 4x4 with 400 small block

1996 4Runner, mild lift and tires

Thanks guys.

I'm new to the GRM forums also (but been looking up things for years), and incidentally, what prompted me to join is that me and a friend picked up a ZX2 Escort to build into a cheap track toy.  So looking forward to participating.

Past history: autox'd Mk2 Jetta GLI, competitive STS Miata (with some track days when I had a rollbar), then went to go-karts, and motorcycle track days after that. Motos are now gone, and I'm coming full circle back to cars.

BTW, if I need to contact a member here, how can I do so? I'm supposed to be approved by an admin to have PM privileges, it seems. So what is the process?

Howdy all,

I'm Andrew and I'm a huge DIY automotive enthusiast. I run my own automotive business out of Denver, CO and always looking for new roads and people to drive with.

I've had off-road vehicles and motorcycles in the past. Right now I've got a 2002 Porsche 4S, that has been converted to RWD. Next up is a suspension refresh (motor mounts, shocks, polyurethane bushings) and hopefully putting the car on a bit of a diet. Look forward to participating in the board more and getting to know some of you!

Hello. I'm Leo and I joined the forum today.

I'm still in high school and haven't got the license yet, as students in South Korea have to graduate in order to get the license.sad

I'm planning to go to german university, so I might be able to write about european cars later!

By the way, I have subscribed the mag since September but haven't got anything yet-Subscriber Service page says there isn't any record for my subscription-any help?

Hello everyone,

I have been reading the forms for some time now and been receiving the subscription in the mail. Just bought a house with a garage and became a dad. I am looking to get back into motorsport after a few years off.

I am hoping to find a car to build for 2019.

Look forward meeting everyone and sharing my build.

In reply to Ed Higginbotham :

Ed, the original purpose of it is to improve the feel of the car to something a little more visceral and in-line with how Porsches were originally. As fantastic and planted as the car is with AWD, it takes away something from the driving experience.

I also love the look of my widebody car and have it mostly dialed in otherwise, which is why I'm not buying a C2. All that said, the conversion sheds about 75 lbs and is fully reversible.

Glad to have you on the forum!

Not entirely new, more of a second coming...

I joined a few years ago. I have had 2 VW GTIs (2002 1.8t, 2003 2.8 vr6). I loved both but hated the FWD of both. I was able to pick up a bucket list car early September. Now I am the owner of a 2004 R32. 151,000 miles but the engine was rebuilt too to bottom @138 and brand new factory suspension installed all around. So its basically a new car, right? I have been to one rally cross and one auto cross. Another rally cross this weekend!

Current mod list: APR catback exhaust, APR fully loaded flash, Swoops Built SRI, 034 track density motor and tranny mounts and solid subframe bushings. Recently rebuilt the Power Steering. It has some 18x8 ULTRALEGGARA wheels at this point.

Plans are:

Drive the Dog Piss out of it.
