Chrome. Lights. Custom art. And it’s a truck, too. Meet the dekotora, Japanese for decoration truck: giant, kitted-out rigs influenced by “Torakku Yaro,” a ’70s Japanese comedy-action movie series.

If you slide in with a Dekotora rollback hauling a Bosozuku Cresseda on the back, you will rule all car shows for all time.

I don't have any pictures, but a chromed up Peterbilt may be the beginnings of this. It's like the X-Files they're out there.

People know me so well.  You can never have too much chrome or too many lights. I've been told I can't dress up the Renegade too much since it's not mine but I have been looking at Kei trucks to "go to the lumber yard" and such.  Surprisingly many of these trucks are working trucks even with all the add-ons. I can't read any Japanese so info is hard to come by but two Twitter accounts I follow that regularly have shiny Japanese truck content are:

I was thinking the same thing - then the lower of the two upper grilles reminds me of a 1971 Riviera grille!

If I get to do one I'm starting with something odd like a Chinese Six or an 8x4 on small wheels

Or Kei fire truck I've seen one in the past - in Canada the 25 year rule is the 15 year rule, as of today a vehicle produced on March 1 2005 can be imported.

You gonna declare a budget exemption for that?

And my own dekotora. IIRC, this came out of a gashapon machine.
