Thanks in part to rallycross events coming to his neck of the woods, user shagles went on the hunt for a worthy rallycross weapon within budget. After scouting E30s, FC RX-7s and AW-11 MR2s, a buddy came forward with a 1996 BMW 318ti affectionately called the Kräppewagen; $1300 later, the deal was done.

They good and solid little cars. They have a following too, so you could probably sell it for a profit in the right place too if you didn't want to rallycross it.

Fun little cars. Loved the few I drove over the years. Too bad they never came to the US with the 6 standard. I know it's a pretty easy drop in but just don't have the time for it.
