I'd love to see a side by side comparison with a TU250X.

What kind of warranty do they have? Can they spell "the" correctly?

I can think of many other bikes I could buy used for $3k that I would rather have.

I just found a dealer in my city. I researched bikes and found the engine spec page.

Does it really only have 14 hp?! That's hilarious! I'm hoping my conversion math from KW to HP is wrong.

Sounds about right for a 250cc engine that's based on a 1970s design.

Yeah, my 225cc, SOHC, 2 valve thumper has 17 hp to the crank, so I imagine the same thing but OHV and Chinese instead of Japanese, 14 hp is about right.

14hp is adequate.

A Harley 883 Sportser makes about 46hp. 14 from 250 CC sounds about right for that kind of engine.

14hp on 300lbs will move along nicely.

Ive been keeping an eye on these for a few months. I might get one when my car is paid off for nice weather commuting.

I really need to try a few bikes first though. And might want to take the MSF course......

Ugh. I'm jaded. You guys are right. 14hp would do nicely on a smallish bike.

I've heard nothing but positive things about these bikes, yet they don't seem to be selling.

The older I get, the more bikes like that TU250X appeal to me...I'm less interested in blasting down the freeway at high speed and more interested in pottering around on a back road somewhere.

Becuase young riders want sport bikes (or sport bike styling) older riders, many whom are inetrested in cruisers, will by a Boulevard model and the styling is too similar to late 70s / early 80s Japanese bikes which can be had for a song and cutsom tailored for about 2/3rds the price (or less) than a new TU250X. I thought the TU250X would make a great platform for a cheap factory Cafe Racer. It seems that only the Cafe Racer crowd is interested in small dispacement non-cruisers. I know as I are one (sic).

I also imagine the small displacement thing kills the appeal to most riders given that CBR600's and Sportster 883's are considered beginner bikes.

In my opinion, a beginners bike is the 250 Yamaha Exciter used in the training class I took more than 20 years ago. Beginners should start slow.

For many years, I rode a Yamaha TW200 Dual Sport and was quite happy with it. However, I rarely rode on anything but two-lane back roads and dirt trails.

That's a tenth of the power/weight ratio of a ZX10R, but at far more than a tenth of the price.

Looking online, this bike has about the same power to weight ratio as a 2012 Toyota Corolla, which will do 0-60 in 8.6 seconds. So certainly the bike is no hot rod, but it will keep up with traffic.

It is puzzling, because everyone I've talked to who has one loves it. I think people are just put off by the small displacement and won't give it a chance. Resale value on used ones is really strong, though, so there is a market there.
