Finally got the saddlebags in for my Interceptor.  I had decided I wanted the OEM Honda bags rather than aftermarket, but tracking down a set took a little effort, as they are out of production.  The dealer I ordered them from told me there were 7 sets of blue bags left in the US.  And then I had to modify the brackets to fit with my aftermarket exhaust...

But it was worth it.

I'm pretty sure these bags were made by Givi for Honda, but they definitely tuck into the bike much better than the Givi bags, and look better in the matching color.  My BIL's bike has Givi bags, so I was able to do a direct comparison... the OEM bags are abou 6" narrower overall than the Givi, even though the bag size is about the same.

I missed out on a neighbors low mileage VFR a few years back.  Great price too.  This doesn't help!
Bike looks great!

Andrei, have you bought another Schwinn URT bike?

I'm too tentative to ride the no-miles Homegrown, and this one popped up on eBay for $crazycheap a while back. Finally got around to assembling it.

It's a steel front triangle bike, one model up from the one I had in 1997.  (This is a 9 six.30, I had a .40 back when)  3x7 STX and Grip Shift, no unobtainium one year only and technically recalled XTR parts.  Cantis not V brakes, which makes me happy. 36 spoke wheels, which makes me less happy, but eh.

The saddle is wide and needs to die screaming.  Someone cut the seat post a bit short, but that's fine for my purposes.  Debating on keeping the feet belts or going with platform pedals or just running clipless.  The elastomers in the fork are completely dead, as expected, but they weren't all that great 28 years ago either!

Cool! I worked at a Schwinn dealer when those were new, and your post brought back memories of building, tuning, and test riding them...along with lots of other 90's and early 2000's MTB memories! 😁

Downsized from my touring bike back to a Softail. The 18+ mono shock bikes are wonderful. 2023 with 200 miles and fully certified and extended warranty on my new FatBoy. Also has the SE exhaust and a few other small things. Paid for it today and it will be here on Tuesday. Looked back and forth between this and the Lowrider S but this won out as it better on the freeway and the FatBoys hold value a LOT better . Plus I like themore custom look over the club sytle Softails.

Cool!  Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.  I worked at a Schwinn shop from 1994 to 1996 as my first job.  In 1995, I bought an s(9 five).3 which is still my favorite bike.  22lb rigid aluminum, Deore LX everything but the shifters.

in 1997 or 1998, I was riding with the guy who took over my position at the bike shop.  He managed to get one of the prototype/preproduction carbon fiber URT bikes.  It had no model name and no insignias on it.  After trying to follow him down a fire road, I bought the s(9 six).40 that they couldn't unload because their market was pretty much sub-$500 bikes.  I think retail on that one was $1400 but they sold it to me at cost just to be happy to be rid of it.

Thus, why I bought the Homegrown.

I am pretty sure those are the original chainrings and chain.  I used to go through many chains per year and several sets of chainrings.  And cassettes.  This still has the titanium spider type cassette.  And, I dimly recall that Shimano recalled those V brakes because the parallelogram linkages tended to disassemble.

Thus, why I rarely ride it.  All of its wear items are extremely difficult and expensive to find.

Wow, awesome period piece! Definitely worth hanging on to as a collector item. I still have my first "nice" mountain bike...a Gary Fisher Paragon cro-mo steel hardtail. Quad-butted Tange Prestige tubeset, all Deore XT. With an upgraded wheel set and XTR cassette it is under 22 pounds! "Big" "knobby" 2.2" tire up front, and fast-rolling 1.9" tire out back, just like we used to race 'em cross country back in the day! 😄

After that one, I bought one of the first, if not the first, AMP Research B-4 full-suspension frames in the state, but that's another story for another day...

On the powered side of things, I made enough progress on my Husaberg FS570 supermoto to take it for a shakedown ride. New Euro-market plastics installed. I love this bike! The feeling of a truly lightweight bike with plenty of power and razor-sharp response is incredible! Still have a few details to button up, but I'm looking forward to this riding season.

Wow, just saw this. Stuff went CHEAP. I'll have to keep an eye out for the next auctions.

I remember going there in high school and drooling over the two stroke bikes in the front room, I think one was a RG, full fairing street bike.
