Have a friend who owns a liquor store, its been in the family quite some time.  He works like a dog, literally is there from open to close 6+ days a week.  Makes a living, but I wouldn't say its a great living, particularly if you divided it by the amount of hours he works.

As others have said, lots of theft there, of product and cash.  Not a business I'd care to own....

I had a friend who owned an interest in a liquor store.  He said he made all his money off people cashing their paychecks.  He would charge them to cash the check then they would drop $80, on average on liquor.  The average check he cashed was $460.  He told me this probably 10 years ago. 

I want to ride the rapids in a booze canoe.
