The long and the short is I've found a sub 2300lb hatchback, that's NOT a BG chassis, that swmbo wants for autocross fun. She's not an expert with a 5 speed yet and I'm looking to bring it north within the next week. My schedule can be adjusted to fit anyone who's possibly interested and able to help out. The plan would be we roll down in the xB, you drive the xB back, and I drive back the new surprisingly rust free 90s hatch. There's a chance that her work schedule is able to be adjusted and that she's able to make the trek this weekend in her Accord, but I'm planning in case a backup plan is needed.

Where are you and trying to go and when? I am up near MD I95 exit 100 (MD DE border) and I need to pick up some stuff in Charlotte in the next few weeks and may be able to just pick you up and drop you off in NC if needed.

How far south/east in NC are you headed? I can't help with the drive, but I live about as south and east as you can go in NC.

Gates, NC

I'm in Parkville on the MD size, so not far off of 95 on the way down. Gates is about 90 minutes east of 95, right off 13.

T.J. I won't be heading down to the Cape Fear area this time through. But if relocation to the western end of the state doesn't happen, Wilmington is another option that's being considered down the road.

Hey, you're near me.  I'm in Newark DE.

Have you autocrossed with us at Ripken Stadium?  If not you should.  I know the Cap'n is considering it.

Did we talk about this before? Maybe it was someone else, I only have autox with Philly and haven't in a long time. Too close to Cecil Co dragway to bother with turning for the moment wink

I can run it down to the rest stop on I-95 a little above the Susquehanna River bridge.

The front seats are the bigger item but nest reasonably well.  The rear seats are 2 pretty flat, pretty light clip-in panels.  The rest of the stuff is pretty minimal.

I still have a few pint glass trophies from Brandywine back in the day. The escort, if not the 323 will be ready to chase cones soon.

I might be able to help with a parts relay from Raleigh to Dusterbd's place. He's not far from my in-laws.

What day would that be?

The escort as soon as the ignition system bits come in, then add a day for me to delete the power steering and swap in the manual 323 rack and refresh the shifter bushings and swap in the window welded motor mounts.

The 323 won't be until fall.

Swmbo is also backpedaling on wanting a clean rustfree EF hatchback DX that's currently being daily driven in NC for well under Challenge $$. So if anyone's interested, I can now share the listing.

Cool!  We expect to have 4 events this year, starting on (hopefully) 18 July and going once a month until mid October.

I meant when did you win your trophies?  I started autocrossing with BMC in 2007 or so and became AX chair in 2013.  I was wondering if you and I unknowingly overlapped.

This year I took over as president and DD#1 is now AX chair.  COVID hit and she hasn't been able to run an event yet, but we're hopeful.

It would've been 2005-2006 when I came out. I think I came up in the STi a few times and even brought the xB out once or twice.

Do you guys allow ride alongs? Is there a minimum age? Would like to bring my daughter.

Yes, we do, if you are experienced. Your daughter would have to be old enough to wear a helmet...

...and at this point she would have to have her own. Due to COVID we aren't offering loaner helmets or instructor ride alongs.
