Yeah, there is apparently a whole industry of scammers in car ads on CL and the nitwits are too stupid to realize there are no palm trees in Memphis, Tn. or St. Paul, Mn. or Bangor, Ma.

It's the same here in SoFla. Ads showing backgrounds with mountains, trees and houses that are obviously a long way from here. But they always offer free shipping, so that shouldn't be a deterrant, right? Just send the money by Western Union,guaranteed by E-Bay, so no risk at all. And it seems that some fools believe it.

"Free shipping" and a scam run here locally (and I assume elsewhere): "we finance with 0% interest". I'm talking about used cars more than 5 years old. I looked at an ad in one of our local, free, "AutoTrader" type mags that offered 0% interest....how about $10,000 for an '02 Focus at 0% interest, when you ad up all the payments? And there are folks stupid enough to keep guys like this in business.
