I think the catch pan might have been more liquid grease than water and didnt put the smoker pucks out. Or there was a build up on the drip funnel pan above it and that caught fire. Or both.
Edit: looking at this photo again it looks the worst burnt just above the lower pork butt.
Either way it smelled good until it smelled of burnt plastic.
I, also, thought I was looking at two possums, squirrels, cats, rabbits or some other little critters.
but I also know about how those smokers can turn beautiful meat into charcoal. I came home to billowing smoke out of my backyard. Luckily it didn't turn out nearly as bad for me but I learned to clean the smoker often!

Much appreciated. I love me some P-38. They don't get nearly enough credit for as much ass-kicking as they did. Fast as hell, tough as hell, and could do any job asked of them. Dogfighting, tank-busting, ground attack, night fighter, torpedo bomber.

At Xmas time I get the gingerbread marshmallows and use apple cinnamon Cheerios.
This is local to me - the top picture was taken about a mile from my house. Some of these buildings still remain.
Chrysler's Newark Assembly Plant built M48 Patton tanks. Here's one on parade down Main Street:
Chrysler built a variety of cars here but eventually closed the plant about 10 years ago, selling it to the adjacent University of Delaware. UD tore every last bit of it to the ground. None of the buildings below still exist:
