No, that's Edgar Schmued. He worked for Dutch Kindelberger at North American Aviation as chief designer. Ironically, he originally was a German citizen who came to the U.S. in the early thirties. He was self-taught in aeronautical engineering and aerodynamics. The P-51 was pretty much his own design. He went on to do the F-86 Sabre Jet at North American.
