I'm interested in this. Literally $1 a month for a razor with 5 blades. Looks legit.

Watch the video at least. You'll get a laugh out of it.

A dollar a month? Why would anyone spend that much to shave? We here at GRM practice a very lengthy, very crazy stropping ritual to get 6 months out of one rusty Mach 3 cartridge!

That video is berkeleyING AWESOME!

Damn, I just bought blades for my 5 blade wonder shaver my wife bought me. They're damn expensive. But, uh, I actually really like the thing. It looks like they have those, but they're $6 a month. Pft. I only use like five a year. But I want to do it just because the video is so berkeleyING AWESOME!

The commercial is so great that I was reaching for my wallet. I waited long enough to do some math and that 12 pack of Schick Slimtwins I pay $5 for lasts me 8 or nine months.

Then I watched the vid again and still want to give the guy some money.

grandpa only had one razor AND polio!

now that I do not have a g/f who "borrows" my razor to do her legs.. mine last forever.. and I shave everyday.

And they had WAY too much fun making that video

Proper storage of a razor will make them last an extra long time. Rust is what dulls them far more than use. Always dry your razor then dip in alcohol followed by a soak in mineral oils ( or barbicide) when not in use.

I used to go through one of those expensive blades per week! Then I switched to the old safety blade. I pay less than the $5 a month and get a better shave.

6 months? You wild and spendcrazy guy! I go a year and then change it out whether it needs it or not.

Stropping works!

Then this will blow your mind: I ditch* my razor blade every Monday. No way my manly stubble could be handled by a rusty, pitted, year old blade!

*Recycle. It'll be part of an airplane one day!

Tried an electric... hated it. Plus, totally unGRM. Why would I spend $80 for something that doesn't do nearly as good of a job as the thing that costs $1.79?

No, it's not electric OR manual, it's doing both!

Electric "takes the edge off" and gets places the manual blade doesn't do so well in. It also makes the manual blade last longer.

Then if you protect the manual blade by drying it off so that the SS doesn't pit and you strop the blade to keep it sharp it lasts a long time. My son in law has a heavy 5 o'clock shadow after an hour finds he gets a much more comfortable shave this way and his blades last longer than 6 months. He can't get a year.

I knew this would turn into another shaving thread (I guess I kinda started it?). This method is waaay too expensive and time consuming. I paid $90 for a kit that had everything I needed to get started, and included consumables for nearly 18 months. I just paid $30 for enough blades to last a year and $7 for shaving soap that'll last more than a year.
When I used the latest mach 37 fusion or whatever, I would have to shave every day and I'd get 5-7 shaves out of a $5 blade. Now I can shave every other day, one pass and a 50-cent blade lasts me 5-10 shaves.

You're spending too much on blades! 100 Personnas costs $20!

AND you don't have to deal with getting all the micro-cuts an electric leaves you with (you've got to buy blades for the electric, as well).
