German citizenship is passed on on the father side only. If your dad is German, then you can get it but not from your mother is German and your father is not.

sounds like the opposite with me. I am 1/16th Seneca, but I cannot claim tribal citizenship because it came from my Father not my Mother. they follow a Matrilineal linage

In reply to mad_machine:

Personally, I feel that if you aren't born into that, on a reservation, you shouldn't get the unique benefits anyway.

And FWIW, that deal with Russia has been coming for a long time before Russia started misbehaving.

The media made a big show about the rally in Paris telling us how it was all in support of freedom of speech and freedom of the press. I find it very interesting that the same media is virtually silent on the Jeffery Sterling trial that is going on right outside of DC. If freedom of the press were really all that important to them, you'd think they'd cover this trial.

Unfortunately France makes a bit of it's money selling weapons to countries that the US won't sell to. They are currently in a deal to sell Russia amphibious assault ships.... nice. I suspect the US buys some of there stuff so we can learn how to blow it up when we run into it.

Why in the hell would France develop amphibious assault ships???

Don't forget they helped Iran in their nuclear program. Probably help india and pakistan too.

The stuff on german citizenship posted here is quite a bit out of date. German citizenship used to be based on only through the father until 1975 then it was either father or mother. Now you are also granted citizenship if your parents have a permanent residence permit and have been living in germany for at least 8 years

They are amphibious assault ships like what our marine corps use. They are more correctly Helicopter Carriers. And why do they have them? Some little known thing as NATO http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mistral-class_amphibious_assault_ship

France has been very open about usage of the atom for peaceful purposes, and some other not so peaceful ones I'm sure. But as far as saying "well they armed all these bad people, blah blah blah" is somewhat closed minded. They were our intermediate for supplying Israel back when we couldn't be seen doing it.

I don't doubt it, my friend has not lived in Germany for 8 or so years now. I posted the info up more as a "here is how they can get disenfranchised" thought
