Met with my financial planner yesterday.  They took a bunch of info and will be presenting a synopsis to my wife and I once I give them a date that works well for us.

Sounds like we're in good shape though and I think I'll be able to stop working when I want, even if my wife continues and doesn't sell her business/building at the same time.

That's excellent news!  I hope everything works out your way.

Attempt #2

The GM said just before he left, I look forward to seeing you next fall.  I told him not to call me.
How's that for a creepy piece of cake?

Yeah from the picture on the cake I can't tell if it's retirement or parole...wink

As of the end of February, I was potentially able to retire.  I wasn't really planning on it, but the idea was there, and I was contemplating.

I'm re-upping the lease on the shop in June, now.  Partly because I want to keep working, partly because I need my investments to come back a bit, partly because the price of new cars, which are already too high for most people, will go higher.  Which means that I will be making out like a bandit for the next few years, keeping their junk running.

When it's all you've ever done it's really hard to stop thinking that way.

Yes, people in line to get cake were saying that, and mumbling things about white vans and school zones
