I don't think that is very relevant. The owner is still responsible for the training of the operator, and for the damages.

My comment was relevant to the question of who I hired. ~Who~ did the work is the responsibility of the business owner. I hired the company. The company had a clumsy worker do my site. When the engineer's report comes back, we'll carry on from there.

The Structural Engineer and I had a tour of the shop as it is so far, chatted quite a bit about the construction and tips and suggestions and whatnot.

He figures the crack could have been from the smack against the wall, but it could just as easily have been from the concrete just cracking on its own. We talked about beaming, compression, tension, the way concrete will crack, and how to prevent cracks, and the fact that the building code does not even mentioning rebar at all. He found a couple other cracks, too, just because.

The long and the short of it is "don't worry about it." He did give me very favourable feedback on my construction and the work I've done so far.

So there you have it. This thread is closed. Thanks, y'all! I feel better now.

I feel like I should know where the build thread for the shop is, but I don't. Why is that?

Glad it's turned out OK.

Great looking build - even better attitude about the E36 M3 that happens.

Subscribed over there. Now I can look in on you, Concrete Underground in Maine and TimewarpF100, Cretecoater and others. I can kill hours on that site.. Good luck with the build.

Thanks for the link. I do lurk over there but it's harder for me to separate the wheat from the chaff than it is over here.
