We used to all agree that internment camps were not a good idea. Most everyone could say that imprisoning Japanese descended American citizens during WW2 wasn't right.

We could also agree that suspending Habeas Corpus wasn't a good idea either. Was it Lincoln who did it?

Another point, those drastic measures occurred during war time. REAL WAR TIME. Not some made up "War On Whatever I Feel Like It" time.

Is Bush really your guy? After all, he did preside over the largest expansion of government in recent times. He helped the deficit grow to immense proportions with no end in sight. His administration has decimated personal freedoms and rights that our country was based on.

Aren't conservatives for less gov't, responsible spending, and personal freedoms?

-Or-

Are you for unrestrained gov't spending, larger and larger bureaucracies, and totalitarian gov't?

I just do not understand how people cannot attribute this to Bush or his administration.. And furthermore WHY.. you would want 4 more years with McCain.

This is Legislative Thuggery at its best.

The war will end as most have. Social programs last forever and swell to economy eating proportions.

Yeeeeeaaaah...

That doesn't make me feel much better at all really.

It just gives the rest of the world more ammunition for reasons to hate us. I've spoken with a lot of American friends that claim to be Canadian when they travel abroad because no one has a decent reason to hate Canadians.

Then there's that bit about our gov't killing innocent people which I suppose also makes me upset.

Lying under oath. That's all. Get bush under oath, get him to lie, and you've got a slam dunk.

Bush is good at hiding stuff.. I'll throw a Dr. Hess-like prediction out there that in time we will know what has really gone on, and those who voted for him will be truly embarrassed.

And none of this is slanted by the media?

I'm not a bug Bush supporter either, but I can't believe no one is asking Obama or Hillary tougher questions or where they even stand on an issue. No one is asking about the economy during Jimmy Carter or the Clinton years either. I can't wait for Bush to leave so the It's -all-Bush's-fault people can point somewhere else.

Regardless, I thought this was funny:

A biker is riding by the zoo, when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents. The biker jumps off his bike, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly. A New York Times reporter has watched the whole event. The reporter addressing the biker says, 'Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I saw a man do in my whole life.' The biker replies, 'Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right.' The reporter says, 'Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist from the New York Times, you know, and tomorrow's paper will have this story on the front page... So, what do you do for a living and what political affiliation do you have?'' The biker replies, 'I'm a U.S. Marine and a Republican.'

The journalist leaves.

The following morning the biker buys The New York Times to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads, the on front page: U.S. MARINE ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH

Scary times we're in, and you know, I'm pretty damn sick of it. All my life I was told, "Go to school, get good grades, get a good job, buy a house, etc..." So I did! College and the whole deal, got an internship, then the job, got a place... Alright, things are good!

NO. As soon as I get out of school and try to enjoy the fruits of my labors, everything started going to E36 M3. And the bad part is, it looks like it's going be here for a looooooong time.

I feel the the same why. Cheated by Bush, I guess. I got out of school in 2003, with the economy in the dumper, due to 9/11 and him improperly handling anything relating to the economy. Now I'm out of school again, and its in the dumper again.

I know it is wrong to pin everything on bush, not entirely his fault, but jeeez... Come on.

I have received checks from the FBI

they made me get a Secure P.O. Box. the comei n brown envelopes with no postage and no return address.

The checks themselves look very generic. the routing number was never the same on successive checks.

After the third check, I got fired from my employer that wasn't the FBI. But Then I got a good job with the State of Illinois within days. funny how things work out...... funny.

Pelosi should be the example that finally proves to those who believe that two parties is the right way that we do not have two parties, we have two branches of the collectivist party, playing us against each other like puppets.

Pelosi doesn't impeach bush because they're all working towards a common goal while distracting us with piddly bullE36 M3 like gay marriage.

The article (if anyone actually read it) specifically notes a rough draft was sent to ranking members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and they were duly concerned about the proposed expansion of the FBI's operational rules.

That means nothing is finalized.

It also means that, if adopted, there will certainly be an immediate challenge via the courts. Mukasey, Mueller, et al will have to have some mighty compelling evidence to justify any continuation of this program. Still there seems little, if anything, constitutional that the SCOTUS could adjudge as legal. And rest assured this issue will go before the Supreme Court.

We'll have something to really worry about if no one in Congress challenges the program and instead supports it. The chances are nil that this administration can accomplish much of anything in the time it has left.
