Just heal up. There are plenty more cars and adventures out there, provided you're healthy enough to drive. Cheering for ya!!

Heres to a speedy recovery ECM. Ive been in your shoes...the months of healing will go by pretty quick in all reality, youll be up and at-em in no time. Keep a copy of your post op x-rays...wish I had mine from my femur break, I remember the pics being pretty sweet looking, but I never kept them to show the kids one day, so theyll just have to take my word for it how badass it looked

Hang in there ECM. As long and painful as the recovery will be, try to keep in mind that at least your injuries are not permanent ones. And, think of all the fun you can have going through metal detectors.

I'm not too sure about the metal detectors. Jane has a titanium rod in her leg, about 14" long. Never had a problem going through them. Doesn't make sense, I would expect it, but never a beep.

+1 on keeping copies of your xrays
I misplaced mine from when I shattered both bones in my right forearm (2 plates +7 screws +2 surgeries because I had to get a skin graft +4 days in hospital=$75k)
I wish I had a wallet size of mine lol
best of luck with recovery and put in a lot of effort @ PT, it really works.

Nope, just a stupid old man who didn't get his ladder setup right. When it started to go I jumped but didn't jump far enough. Landed on the sidewalk instead of the grass.

They gave me a set of crutches but I didn't make it out of the imediate care place before I fell again. Fortunately my wife's aunt had a wheelchair and a folding walker that I could use for the next 2 months.

keep getting better!

I'm going to assume that you have at least one clip-in bike in your stable, so make sure you get your fit checked after things are pretty much healed. I've heard (and helped fix) horror stories about folks who aggravated injuries after accidents when they didn't account for it in the bike fit.

the fitter is going to love you, though. I know when i was helping our lead fit guy, we'd both geek out over the people with weird physical proportions or injuries and how to make it all work again. It was the fun stuff you didn't see every day

having used the expression "tough titties" more than once in my life, I have thankfully never needed to use it in a literal sense. Heal well.

If it's true what they say about getting hit in the boob being akin to being hit in the nads, you're berkeleying tough!

That IS impressive. The Force is in your rack.

So did I miss the explanation of what actually happened in the accident?

Was it negligence on the part of the other driver? Will you need a lawyer?

I hope you got some good pain pills to keep you loopy until things stop hurting.

Oh, I'm loopy alright.

I was headed to work, about 9:00am. I was headed north on a really busy street that has three lanes in both directions and a center turn lane (no median or divider). Two of the three lanes of traffic traveling in my direction were stopped, not that unusual for rush-hour, but my lane was clear. I was in the far right straight lane when a car that was turning left across traffic (had been heading southbound and was in the turn lane) wiggled through the stopped lanes of traffic and pulled out in front of me with no time for me to stop. I had both feet in trying to stop, but there wasn't even a skid mark to show for it. There was just no time to stop.

Many wonderful people stopped to render assistance until the rescue teams got there and offered to stay as witnesses. In fact the police sent many on their way because they only needed two witnesses. With all the stopped cars I had plenty of people who saw it happen.

Remember, the secret to a long life is no left turns. Thanks again for all of the kind thoughts, y'all are awesome.

While I'm not doubting science, what person who has ever lived on this planet in the history of the world was EVER qualified to makes this determination??

Transgenders don't count- the nerve structure would be different.

I see that at least once a week on my commute. I try to remember that at least all of the drivers coming the other way can't count, and probably wouldn't remember to if they could.

Get well soon, and watch those intersections- and the stupid people in them.

Hey ECM, I hope you have a speedy recovery. And if you don't have one already get a good physical therapist. Find some place that deals with athletes not the walking dead. Makes all the difference in the world.
