Sorry to be such a huge time waster for all of y'all!!! But, man that site is fun.
I recommend NOT getting on their mailing list, it'll make it worse.
But, since you're wasting time, Deal Exchange is another cool site. Ton's of crap that you either didn't know you needed or would never buy, but when you see how cheap it is, you find you asking yourself "why not"?

You're not a very nice man...

Yeah, I'm an shiny happy person :)
Thanks to this thread, my productivity and bank account are ruined for the foreseeable future.
But apparently you can buy desktop artillery! Wonder if that will get me fired.....
I bought a drone recently, about $90 (not this, but similar). That price gets you some stability, some cool features, and a huge waste of your time. I am getting pretty good at droning on and one and on.

I've had one of these for a little over ten years now.
It's not space age or electronic but these fire starters are like witchcraft to people. One night after hurricane Sandy I used one at work to start a fire and I might as well have shot fire straight out of my fingers. If the power had been out a few more days I probably could have taken over much of the neighborhood.

I just ordered a tiny grappling hook. I could see using it to get some branches off a hard-to-reach part of the roof.

Swiss Army Rambler. Same tiny footprint as the classic, but just a smidge thicker, and it adds a magnetic tipped Phillips head screwdriver. Very nifty, and extremely useful to have around.
I have a bunch of these. I carry one everywhere. They are just fantastic little tools.

I had never heard of such a device until I was buying a roll cage off of Craigslist and the seller had blasted a '63 Chevy truck door and showed it to me.

Those brought to mind a great song with a disturbing video.
OptiZoom 12x lens for your cell phone camera. About $30.

I only have one at a time (but have old Classics littering the house). The last time I lost one (seized on return from a cruise excursion), I ordered a replacement as soon as I got off the ship. Way too handy to not have around.

The hook arrived today. I tied it to some Paracord, and promptly had it fall off the rope, stranding it on the roof. A bit of silly shenanigans with a ladder and a broom, and I had it back. I've tried a few knots, and none give me much confidence. Paracord doesn't really hold a knot well.
In reply to Mike :
Did you try a bowline knot?
In reply to EastCoastMojo :
The bowline is the most useful knot is sailboating. The great feature of the knot is that no matter how much pressure you place on the working line, there is no pressure (or over tightening) of the knot itself and the line can always be untied easily.
The long standing joke for overnight/multi day sailboat races is you don't want to be out there without knowing how to tie/untie a bowline knot in the dark or w/o not having to look at it or see it.
F-ing cool on the grappling hook!!!
I used to know several variations on the Bowlin. Bowlin, Bowlin on a bite, some kind of bosun's chair Bowlin (forget the name), Dragon Bowlin, and one or two more. I once sailed with a captain that used to teach at the SIU (Seamans' International Union) school.

Working on my costume for the 501st, found a nifty electronic setup for the helmet. This was a test when I first got it, on 8 random effects. I've since settled on one minor static pulse after each transmission. Want to sound like TK421? Here you go : ICOMM

I forget what I had first. I think it might have been a reinforced ring hitch. It fell right out pretty quickly, even though it seemed good on the ground. Now I have two half hitches, and it's better, but not grand. I'll try the bowline.
My brother mentioned a deadpool knife holder like the green person shaped one in this thread. Can't seem to find it. Anyone know?
