In 2006, in San Diego I rented a Catalina 30 sailboat for a 24 hr period for $280. I thought that was a great deal. http://www.shelterislandsailing.com/sandiego_charter_boats.htm
I could not find you that deal but here are some leads.

Sail your own small stuff like Rhodes 19 or bring their captain on a 32 footer and it is $250/$500 http://www.oldquarry.com/shop/sailing.php

Its an Alerion Yawl for $250/$500 with captain and food.

I'm in as long as it doesn't conflict with any previous plans. Probably heading up to Owls Head on Sunday.

I'm in if there's a day that works (Sunday is great for me, but probably not good for those who are fathers or have living fathers)

The family and I drove straight from Chicago to Buffalo, New York and saw the falls. From there we drove UP and STRAIGHT across the country to Bangor, Maine. We were on a lot of two lane state highways. We then drove the entire coast to New York City and back to Chi-town. 13 States, 2-1/2 weeks, and 4,000 miles.

Do not use GPS or computers. Get a Rand McNally map and learn to use it. Boston history and Newport, Rhode Island SHOULD not be passed up.

I just got back from Block Island,RI for the first time. I didn't get to see much of the island because of work, but what I saw was awesome!!! Check it out if you get the chance. Swing by my place in Carver on your way to Hyannis. You can see TR8Todd's collection of TR8/7's as well because he is a mile from me. I emailed you my number.

Oh and hell yeah, I would love to be a part of a regional-GRM get together.

Woody if you have time let me know, wouldn't mind saying Hi in person, even partake in a brew or two

The Hilton Garden Inn is a nice hotel right in the heart of the Old Port in Portland, can't beat the location, might be pricey though, haven't checked in a while.

I used to live in Portland, but I can't recommend a specific place to stay. But, you'll want to be within walking distance of the Old Port.

I'm sure you'll get out to Cape Elizabeth to see Portland Head Light, just like everyone else, but you may want to go a couple of miles to the South also and see Two Lights. It's beautiful down there. If you are at Portland head Light, face the ocean, look to your right and look for the next two lighthouses. Then drive to them. Try the lobster at the shack when you get there..

If you go North along the coast, the Boothbay Harbor area is really nice. Of course, so is everything else.

Be careful around Ogunquit, unless, you know, you're into that kind of thing. Not that there's anything wrong with it...

Spend as much time as possible driving along the coast of Maine. There's nothing else like it.
