My A4X is a lot quieter than the A4C-1 is, so you've got that going for you at least :) Sounds like a bit of lubrication might be worthwhile. There's at least one A4X teardown posted online - you probably just have to pop it out of the case.

I haven't had an expensive watch for a lot of years. Used to own a Citizen Skyhawk, but it died a traumatic death in the Marines. Current watch is a Casio G-100. Love it for the toughness and utilitarian aspect, but it's not exactly high fashion. I continue to peruse for a dressier watch; when the right one comes along, I'll know it.

There are some cheap Casios that I think would dress up well. This one is $16 on Amazon. There's also one with a black dial and gold or white numbers.

That's a good point, I should probably try to service this thing.

Hi all,

While on the subject, here is a video of my Miata-themed automatic watch winder project I recently finished:

Thanks Keith, I knew that you of all people would understand the combined interest in Miatas + watches! smiley

Of all the watches that came in my collection, this Timex seems to have caught my attention. It's not something I think I'd buy, but after adjusting the links it's very comfortable. I've been wearing it for 3 days now.

Quoting myself, because a unique watch dropped into my lap, as it were... My wife just ordered me an Invicta. The big deal is that I'm left-handed, and the Invicta is a Lefty chronograph.

Here's a cool article (https://ciechanow.ski/mechanical-watch/) that includes descriptions and animations showing how each component of a mechanical watch works.  It's a pretty handy resource if you're interested in mechanical watches.

Good link, very in depth and I like the interactivity.

I usually link people to this video to show how mechanical watches work.

One of the best engineering articles I've read in a long time.

In other news-

New Watch Day!!!!

It's not as huge as it looks. Takes up about the same amount of space as my G shock, just has a bigger face compared to case size.

My wife got me an early father's day gift yesterday! She said she had been wanting to find a Shinola, but we found this one instead and both loved it! Super comfy on my wrist, though I suspect I'll need to learn how to wind a watch now!

I've been wanting a "tank" so I bought these from a Reddit group.  They're nice in person but the details aren't great.  What I learned is the bottom two are "Mumbai specials" and are all over eBay for $20-$30.  The top may be Japanese, maybe not, but it's good from far.  Overall, I'm happy.

I have to admit I'm slightly disappointed a left hand chrono doesn't run counter clockwise.

Another (the last I swear) Russian 24h showed up from Ukraine. I'll swap out the band for something more to my liking.
