And anytime I buy a new cool fuzz I have to test it against my favorites of what I own.

Supercollider is still my favorite but the Megalith is epically great.

I've been thinking hard about overdrives and fuzz pedals lately. My Orange has all the gain in the world, but sometimes I want to add some "atmosphere" for lack of a better word. And my Tramp is really thick and rich when pushed but it could use a little more gain. Might be time to cruise the pawn shops and music stores to see what I can find on the cheap.

Be careful.  It can become a slippery slope... one fuzz box turns into two... and then three... and before you know it you're looking at a pile of them and saying to yourself, "how did this happen?"

Honestly this is where the value of the Spark comes in. You just click a button on your phone and whammo! Instant new pedal effect.

It escalates quickly and the only way around it all I have found is a twin reverb with some tubes pulled. Makes all the right noise.

This exactly! Cocaine might be less addictive then fuzz boxes.

The ones you see there are a 3 variations of Big Muff and a Meathead, although mine is a super-ultra-dark Meathead that I had built for me.

The Eleca is basically a Green Russian Muff with more lowend. At one time like 3 years ago they were $29 new but anyone that has one won't resell it it seems.

But I literally have boxes of fuzz pedals made by boutique manufacturers

Fuzzes are so varied ( even though they basically all are variations of 3 circuits) that you end up holding on to them.

One doesn't simply sell all the extra fuzzes lol

Got a tone in mind? I might be able to point you the right way.

Although if you ever run across a Zoom Power Drive for cheap.....best transparent overdrive I've ever played.

Funnily enough it's damn heavy without even going to the More Heavy side of things. Hitting the More Heavy makes my ported cabs start walking around

Kind of. Closest I can pinpoint is my old 50w JCM with solid guitars wearing HOT passives (invaders and such). It had maybe less gain than my Brent Hinds Orange, or maybe more, but it was somehow more transparent. And I was playing with guys running 100w stacks so I could get into it pretty hard. I still regret selling that amp. The early 50w heads are hard to find anymore.

If any of that makes sense. basically, I'd like a different and separate layer of fuzz without losing clarity. I generally prefer open and airy over face-punching. For that reason I'm thinking fuzz more than overdrive
Same with the Tramp. It's basically a fender champ clone that I'm gonna mod to 12w with an EL34.

Basically looking for a layer of clear static without too much signal boost. And it'll be out front instead of in a loop.

Sounds like you'd like a fuzz with a clean blend on it. I've only played one, a Blakemore Deus Ex Machina, that I loved and shouldn't have sold.

Got any clips that showcase the sound you are looking for? It's hard to describe tones in my experience. For example the Megalith to me has a synth-y like growl but is remarkably clear and it sounds like this ( Shrinebuilder used them to record this)

Megalith fuzz tone

I almost bought an Acoustic 408 cab yesterday. Even though I don't play bass, and actually own several bass setups already.

But.....do I really need a 2ohm 4x15 cab that weighs several hundred pounds? The answer seems to be yes because I could rewire it to 8 ohm and play downtuned guitar they it.

Sounds logical.....right?

Any of you have experience with the "offshore" PRS models? I am looking for something to noodle around with and get a little more versatile than my go to LPs. Played two se 245s yesterday and they were OK but felt a little rough around the edges even compared to Epi LPs. Do I just go all in and set them up right or just how it is with them? Seemed to be able to go from the dark LP sound (not quite but good) to more jingly strat/tele sounds so it checks all the other boxes.

I don't have a ton of experience with them but every one I've played was much the same as that.

Id say that Xaviere and Agile we're more refined than them and significantly less too.
