I'm not sure I'd say it sucked, but there were far more valid criticisms that could've been made than claiming it violates the feather-pillow-soft science fiction of Star Wars.

We had a kid with an Integra Type R purchased on eBay and with every possible "power" electronic magic box added come to our dyno for testing. Every box we took off, it made more power but it never got up to where a Type R should be. He stormed off, complaining we had no idea how to run our dyno and told all his friends the same because obviously the problem was us.
Turned out later it wasn't the original engine and it was running 8-something compression ratio. Yeah, WE were the problem.
Then there was the time I was at a GRM test between my 148 rwhp Locost and a 300 hp Atom, and the Atom couldn't outrun the Locost...we used to call our dyno the Lie Detector.
