I used to think I were special because I got so many messages from recruiters on LinkedIn. Now, I'm just annoyed. I'm about to go through my connections and delete anyone who is a 3rd party recruiter. In house recruiters can stay.

What's the opposite of ASMR?

I have that with people chewing.  It drives me buttberk to hear people crunching and slobbering.  I assume ot does the same for people to hear me eating, so I always make sure I have music on when it's lunch break time for me.

I work in a small open office with 5 other people.

One of them loves apples and raw carrots.  Another one can cram more food down their gullet faster than anyone I've ever seen... or heard.

This is the story of my job hunt for the last 4-5 years.  Tons of emails for jobs, but they are all for like 1/2 my salary.  Do they even look at how many years I have been doing my job?

We need someone with 2-5 years experience in <enter IT or AI/ML skill/tech here>.

Location: On-site in the middle of nowhere near where you live

Hourly range: I know you make way more than this, but can you slum it for me because you have <IT skill>.

Length of term: Barely long enough for you to relocate and then we are done with you.  Maybe an extension or convert to full ti.....  HAHAHAHA. I couldn't keep the straight face any longer.

All I need is your social, phone, and blood type and I'll submit you because you are taking this job.

I got laid off 14 years ago and put my resume on a few job sites. I've been getting calls from one staffing agency ever since. It used to be quarterly until I asked them to leave me alone. Then it was yearly, you know, just to check in. Then every time a new person starts they would call me. Then I made the mistake of telling them that I was promoted to manager. Now they call me asking if I'm looking for temporary help. Arrrggggg.

So, apparently I have to go in to a Sam's Club with a copy of my Dad's death certificate to keep from being charged for his membership from renewing.

There is a technical name for that, actually, and I have it too.  It doesn't bother me when we're all eating, but having someone sitting next to me chewing is just revolting.

I worked in a library for two years.  Quiet mostly had to do with time of day and the season.  It could get pretty loud, especially during evening rush hour,

I changed payroll services in June of this year. Uploaded all the info they needed for the payroll they didn't do. They said it would all work out. While checking the drafts for my W2s, all of them were missing pay from the first half of the year. So I just spent 3 hours manually entering 6 months of payroll for 5 people. That does not make me a happy camper.

Cancel the card it's charged to and tell them to FO. Or call the card company and back charge them.

Phucking hot water that was supposedly fixed 2 weeks ago, by the company who installed it, 2 universal thermostats, 2 universal elements, and almost $300 for a heater under "warranty".... MF'r still doesn't heat water for E36 M3 or consistently.

Are you even listening to yourself? So you really think I'm going to pack up my life to move to Dog Patch, Nebraska for your E36 M3 job for E36 M3 pay?

What's even funnier is, that is basically how the entire economy of Nebraska runs.

As someone who still lives near to, has family in, has lived in for decades, and is still near Nebraska- the entire area runs on complacency and going "I could just do this job until I retire" to the point where it's a political mindset here. My bestie is managing AV and setup for the stadiums and his part-timers are making $13 an hour and places are beginning to have severe retention issues because they just refuse to pay people more versus their competition. E36 M3, my hospital is stealing people from other places just because we're willing to say "It's a hard damn job so we'll pay you $10 over what you're making now"

My town needs some of that. Especially in my industry. There is no competition so folks generally make 10-25% less than industry equals in other locations. And the big boss has the cajones to bring up our higher-than-industry-average profit margins during our "were all a big family" employee lunches we get these days in lieu of the actual parties we used to get. It'll crumble eventually.

Our problem is, now prices in Omaha are beginning to climb up to Chicago levels, but without any of the positives of chi-town and with an impressively shortsighted city planning- Omaha already has built a new city library, shut down the old one, then began building another city library within 5 years to move that one into for a makerspace, and there isn't even a problem with the new building! And that makerspace that's going to use it, just tore down their building, which they literally renovated in the past few years to become!

I am saddened how quickly the Fallout thread devolved and people used how many hours they had invested into a game to justify why they were more right than others.

The holidays started off poorly right after Thanksgiving. My wife and I just got to the point we're almost back to normal. We both slept like crap last night. Then, today I got three pieces of bad news. Each one was a gut punch on it's own. We'll get through all of this but I could sure use a break.

This is terrible to complain about but...I'm annoyed.

I finally landed a new job at an awesome company for double what I'm making now. It's in software sales again. I previously was head of sales for a ~100 employee software company and managed our tech stack.  I was also our Salesforce admin.  I say that to illustrate that I am pretty ok with technology.  The new company is very aware of this.

My start date is 1/8 and they want me to do a 1 hr laptop setup with IT the week before- WHY CAN'T IT BE THE FIRST HOUR OF MY FIRST DAY?

I'm also annoyed that I'm being such a baby about this.

I go to concerts to hear the band, not the crowd. This isn't a rant or complaint of my fellow concert goers, we are there to have fun, and for some that does include singing along with the show.

This is a rant about bands that insist the crowd sings. Especially when they stop and point the mic to the crowd. I really hate that. Sing, for gods sake!  That's why we are spending our time and money at the show. And for sure don't stop playing to hear the crowd- that makes it worse.

It's especially annoying the 10th time they do that, and the crowd is largely silent every time. Catch on and keep playing.

Fair warning: there's another whiny, rambling, long-winded diatribe ahead. You've seen this picture before.

The dang cold, RSV, whatever it is just will not leave us alone. Mrs Monohue has been sick all week with the same sinus nightmare I was fighting off until a week or so ago, and now I'm getting that old familiar feeling. I may wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed or it may be the inverse. In fairness, it ain't like we have holiday commitments planned because we have no family nearby, but the absence of family also means that she is the sole caregiver for the kid whenever I'm at work. If she's sick, she's usually totally out of commission, which means either I pick up the slack or the slack doesn't get picked up. And I don't have a hell of a lot of reserve capacity right now.

It's times like this I almost wish I'd been raised religious so I could a) find some reassuring hidden meaning in this serial annoyance/misery, and b) dial up some assistance from a ready-made community when we run out of time and/or gumption.

Harrumph.

I have damn near perfect pitch. Listening to people sing off-key is pure torture. That's one of the main reasons I don't go to concerts. It's amazing how bad many bands are without the opportunity to do 15 takes of 10 tracks and then mix them perfectly. Then throw a noisy crowd into the mix and it gets particularly terrible.

Every time my kids start singing I ask them this question. "Do you know why the band sang this song? So you didn't have to. Please stop."

Most of the concerts are so loud, you can barely hear your spouse yell at you. Until they stop and stick the mic out into the crowd.
