That is well designed, from a Ford point of view.  The F series pickups in the 70s that came with a 360 or 390 had the drain plug located directly above the suspension crossmember. Aimed at the crossmember.

Saying "this thread should be locked" in a thread that has remained civil in spite of being a hot button topic.

People are having civil discourse and are actually learning things from seeing another's point of view.

This is exactly how discussion is supposed to work in a society that values freedom of speech.

If you can't handle that, please, stop opening the thread.

As is probably no surprise given where I'm posting this- I love working on cars. But I've come firmly to the decision that I do NOT like working on other people's cars. Or rather, working on other people's cars for them- I'm fine with assisting other people who also enjoy working on their cars. But working on a car for other people is just too stressful.

I guess it's just the norm now that the opening offer on Marketplace is 30% of asking price?

Twice. In rapid succession.

And today he woke up with a fever of 102 fun-loving degrees. Maybe it wasn't the nuggets after all.

Oh, well. At least he's in good spirits.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I did some suspension work for a buddy a few months ago and it was stress city

The rare times I've had help with a car, I let the helpers know that this is MY pile of E36 M3. You are absolved of any responsibility how it turns out short of torching the car to the ground. It removes a lot of stress related mistakes.

I recently broke a wheel stud for the first time in my life. Considering that there's two tire changes every autocross weekend, I guess I was overdue.

Since I often change tires in the evening after work for an event the next morning, and since I'm going to be doing more track days, I figured I should replace the studs with some ARP hardware.

I wasn't sure if I could get the rear ones changed without pulling the hubs, so I started there. I pulled the passenger side, looked at it, and decided to pay someone to do it. I didn't want to pull the hubs.

The slider pins needed to be greased, so that was good.

I reassembled it, then pulled off the driver side and greased the pins. I could hardly get the piston screwed back into the caliper. Test drive confirmed dragging brake.

Off to the parts store, mistakenly bought home the passenger side, went back to exchange. I then spent several hours over bits of three days trying to get the parking brake bracket attached after attaching the brake line and the caliper bracket.

I watched a video, saw that his new caliper already had the parking brake bracket attached. Pulled it apart, found out that the bolts wouldn't start even when working on the bench. No wonder. Threaded the bolts in from the back to clean up the threads.

In 20 minutes, it was back on the car. Did a preliminary bleed with a vacuum bleeder, full bleed on my next day off. Out for a test drive, passenger side dragging when I got home.

Back to the parts store for the caliper that I had previously brought home for a visit. Back on the jack stands, again. Pull the caliper and bracket as the sun is setting, and finally notice that the bolts holding the backing plate are accessible from the outside. Remove those (Florida car since new, zero rust), and guess what? I can change the studs now!

That means I get to remove the driver's side again!

And there it sits. I got to codrive a friend's Civic Sport hatchback today, so I skipped a day for autocross (9th in Pax!).

The good, the bad, the ugly, and still not done.

Does this apply to vehicles now?  I may have to list one soon and I have no idea how to price stuff on FB marketplace

Hey YouTube, showing a skip button after the skip timer hits 0 AND NOT berkeleyING LETTING ME CLICK IT feels like it should be illegal. Like your 5 second countdowns that take 8 seconds(yes I time them).

Why has no one made a competitor? Or are they buying them all up as they grow in popularity? If the latter is the case, what's the average sale price, cause I need some easy money? Or have the Disney copyright lawyers turned federal judges somehow decided that hosting videos is a copyrighted technology?

Staying in a decent hotel in a decent-sized city. Not a fancy hotel, but not a bottom-tier motel either.

Pocket doors to the bathroom are a terrible idea. One, without any handles or recesses they're difficult to manipulate. Two, the track on the bedroom side binds so there's no way to seal light/noise. Three, the track on the other side is sloped and the door doesn't latch there, either.

The pillows are those godawful hotel pillows that look voluminous but collapse into a whisper of a pillow when you try to use them.

The worst, though? The AC doesn't work properly. You can turn it on and get a blast of polar vortex for a few minutes, but after that it just quits. The fan won't stay on and the AC won't cycle again so it ends up being incredibly hot and stuffy. There are no fans to circulate air in the rooms, so I ended up getting about 2 hours of sleep last night between 4 and 6AM. Thanks.

Ok, this is the fourth time in 6 days this has happened:

Whatever worthless waste of oxygen decided to start putting ADS in the MIDDLE of music videos needs a solid 8 hour shift of getting kicked in the junk by a trucker in steel toed boots.

Firefox + uBlock Origin. Effectively a blanket block across the entire experience, will also increase the loading speed of the internet because now you're no longer trying to sideload junk.

On top of the very real youtube complaint, using it for anything on phone is miserable now. Google is being broken apart as a monopoly RIGHT NOW over this actually, where they're trying to force people onto the app by any means necessary because ad blockers are so fundamental to seeing the internet anymore -and on the app youtube can inject ads through it and control the entire experience, instead of you using something like NewPipe and getting around the ads in classic ways. So what you get if you try to load any video, is google trying to make you open every video through the app instead of the browser relentlessly so they can make money off your experience.

When I get home I can also look for other programs you can load youtube in, where they replace the "front end" of the website- NewPipe is one that replaces youtube's front end. There's a few other linux based methods too.

Since I watch YouTube on mobile and Xbox app the most, the desktop browser Adblock solutions won't work. So I ponied up and pay for YouTube Premium. No ads. For me it's worth the $13 a month.

Pocket doors on bathrooms are terrible but recently I've ran into something even worse : barn doors.

For when you absolutely want to share your bathroom experience with everyone else in the room

I have a dad's league softball game on the books for 8:30pm tonight.  It's an awesome time with good friends.  The dads get to have a little break from the endless kids sports and get to play the game themselves for a change.  Nope.  Eff you.  It's going to start raining at about 7pm tonight.  This is our second game of the season.  The first one got rained out.

Good news is I have a company softball game planned for Saturday.  Eff you.  It's supposed to rain all day Saturday too.  At least there is time for that forecast to change.  Tonight is hosed.

I'm on a smart TV when I watch. I run the TV DNS through an adguard proxy, handles the rest of the Internet fine but not YouTube.

I already pay Google Fi ~$200/month for phone service, they should kick in YouTube premium for as many years I've stayed loyal and customers I've referred.

I won't pay for premium alone though, I really only watch 4 channels regularly and the GRM members videos when they get posted.

Adguard DOES still work on my phone, if I go through the browser instead of the YouTube app, which is nice, but it automatically switches to the TVs Internet connection when I try to screen mirror it. I gave up trying to keep a pi-hole updated, I may have all the time in the world but I don't have that kind of patience.
