Spent yesterday afternoon certain that there was just one stupidly simple little thing that I was missing that was making the boiler not run.

Got boiler tech out this morning...

...and he reset one safety fault switch that I couldn't see because it was on top of a control box above eye level.

I stand corrected. It's still a shame. Facebook's product is inferior in a number of ways, yet I still go there more often because of the greater volume.

Agreed there 100%!! I still love Craigslist and miss the days when it was the default online listing platform for everyone. Facebook sucks and the marketplace is terrible.

And for not the first nor last time I will point out that the only thing FB has to sell us is each other. If people went back to CL, CL would be better than FB. I think this is true beyond classifieds. I know I'm yelling at the choir to get off my lawn or something, but...

When Craigslist stops this I'll go back to it. Tires of scrolling through pages of the same business ads.

Shop local...

Ok, I'll try.

Need a control cable for customer's weirdo-brand mower. I can order it from the company website but the shipping costs more than the part.

Part isn't listed in the Stens (industry supplier) catalog but I'm sure it can be matched to another brand.

Was in town (an hour from me) last Saturday. Supplier has recently changed their hours. No longer open weekends (their business sells stuff to home owners). Damn.

In town today (Friday). Go to the supplier so they can match the cable. Closed at 3pm on Fridays now.

Got home. Ordered cable online. Customer can eat the shipping.

I want to shop local. Stop making it hard!

I know that some designer at Hyundai thinks they're incredibly clever working a letter "H" into the tail lights and headlights of the Hyundai Santa Fe, but somebody needs to tell them that it actually looks like a dog bone and I hate it.

Let them design roof lines, that they should never be allowed to design lighting again

Nice three-day weekend ahead, weather forecast not too hot, everyone's colds clearing up, good opportunity to catch up on yardwork and whatnot. Naturally, Mrs twisted her ankle but good doing yardwork. She'll be on her back for the duration and I will not accomplish a damn thing.

I cannot do a single thing. Ever.

How berkeleying hard is it to call me back after promising to do so?

Automotive, referred to them by my local mechanic, no less.

Probably going to try to call them one more time on Tuesday as it's been almost a week at that point, but I guess if they can't even be bothered to say "no thanks" I'll just go back to the other place that I use for alignments even though that tends to waste a half day due to the travel.

The particularly funny/sad part is that the service writer at the local mechanic who referred me to them specifically pointed out that I might have to leave a message but that they're really good at returning calls...

I was adjusting the rear view mirror when the plastic surround just simply self destructed. The more I worked with it the more pieces came apart. It's not something the aftermarket supports so I'm looking at $60 minimum because of the electronic innards.

There's a video on Facebook of a linesman grabbing a high tension cable and not being electrocuted.

I stated that he's not being electrocuted because there's no path to ground.

People are arguing with me.

We are doomed.

Columbia boiler. There's a little green switch on top of the Safety control box on the left.

This photo is taken at eye level.

Also the floor is not graded towards the drain, so I need to squeegee constantly any time I blow down or try to drain.

Back in the beginning of April, i had to replace my battery. I don't drive it much, so last week, with an emissions test due at the end of the month, I went in and was rejected for not ready state. My old OBD-II scanner won't connect, so I drove out again today, another reject.

I'm going to have to build a route for readiness criteria and do it nightly to get a good test before the clock runs out.

That's actually how they work with super high voltage lines.  They don't bother with isolating the worker, they isolate the crane.

See also: the silly FIA rules with hybrid F1 cars about driver removal if the battery didn't auto-disconnect after a crash.

The HV system doesn't use the ground as a circuit path.  There's no way a driver could get shocked by contacting the chassis and the ground at the same time.  It's like being worried about touching the ground if you had a faulty cordless drill in your hand.

"Top level of racing" my ass...

I went through this when my daughter was in college. I kept asking, just to be clear, you want me to drive a car 200 miles vs just letting it sit so you can make sure it's not polluting?

Not sure if this is specific to the greater DMV area or more widespread. Seems like every seller of cars that people on here would find interesting prices the car as if comes with a couple of gold bars or a trunk full of high quality 'shine. At least that's the only explanation I can think of why people would expect a 06 or 07 Mustang GT (not a Shleby) be worth anywhere near the $15k they're asking.

Then after a couple messages good, what's your phone number so I can coordinate when to pick it up. I don't like giving out my number. And we're talking just fine through messenger so what's the need for the phone call.

Then you say that you don't know what I did to cause it.
