If I tell you you are not pulling your weight, don't get all huffy leave in the middle of the conversation then pull even less weight to show how mad you are. Especially when I was told to tell you to put your big boy pants on as people above are watching you. .

That sounds like a person you should let crash and burn on their own merits, unless you were the one who hired them.

Knew he would act this way so this is more coving my ass and watching the blow back from a far far distance away.

Anxiety can suck my ass! I've never dealt with anything that is so debilitating, confusing or frustrating. It seems so simple on the surface but it doesn't make sense at all.

sad

I doesn’t seem to get easier to deal with either.

I’m absolutely exhausted.  I really hope we get to a point that The Wife becomes self propelled and self cleaning. My mother in law has been taking care her most of the time and I don’t know how she’s holding up so well with  everything she’s had going on this year. She’s a far better person than I’ll ever be.

Also a first world problem, but I’ve taken over most of the household chores while my wife deals with the perils of pregnancy. She feels very bad that she hasn’t been contributing (her words, I do not feel that way at all) and tries to help. Well, that usually means unloading the dishwasher.

Before she was pregnant and when she ruled the kitchen, she would put a new soap pod in as soon as she opened the door to unload the dishes. I never liked that, so that stopped. Well, she had started unloading the dishes and then got tired and had to go to bed. There is a pod in the door. I’m now not sure if the thing didn’t open during the wash, or if she put it in there. Afraid to ask too. We’re just going to assume it worked, because I don’t want to have hormonal crazy come down on me, and it’s easier to do it this way

Local (utah) scca chapter holds its closest events about 4 hours away. That is too far for someone who works 6 days a week. Especially when most of them are on saturday and I work every saturday, and sunday is for family stuff. Then I remember the Vegas chapter is less than 2 hours away and they are rumored to host evening/night events. So I jump on their site and there are some rules and such for night events but no dates. So I emailed. They just responded. No evening events this year. Balls. Looks like unless we hire someone to work weekends (not likely) I can't go racing this year.

I worked till 2am, did not get to bed till 3:30. 8 am this morning, Asplundh was in the yard behind mine, cutting branches for the power line right of way. They just now, at 10:40 shut down the chipper.  This is my saturday, I really wanted to sleep in

Woke up with that little tickle in the throat. Took a shower and went back to bed for another hour, which is something I never do. 3 hours later, I'm at work and I feel horrible. So tired and every joint is aching.

If I miss my weekend trip for this, I'll be quite upset.

Everyone should practice sleeping with earplugs in and keep a supply of them handy for just this reason.

Last night on the drive out to Louisville I mentioned to the Dancer that I had made an appointment with the optometrist for my annual eye exam (which I'm unfortunately expecting to result in my needing to get actual full-time glasses instead of just my current reading glasses indecision) next Tuesday after work, and asked if she had anything going on that would require me to reschedule the appointment. She gives me an annoyed look and asks, "What would make you think I would have something you would need to do on a Tuesday night?"

Sitting in gridlock traffic on I-64E at 5:30 on a Tuesday afternoon while she grumbled about the traffic making us late for the photo shoot she scheduled with the aerialists performing in her non-profit's upcoming show, I decided that it was not the time to point out the obvious.

Also- today was the first day in a while where things should have been aligned for me to be able to finally start riding my bike to work again and start hopefully making a dent in the extra weight I've put on this year. Unfortunately I fell back asleep after shutting my alarm off this morning and was running too late to be able to ride.

Maybe this belongs in “first world problems” but it appears that 10” wheels are what I want to really maximize the possible grip from the big tires on the new car.

So I look around for 15x10” Miata wheels and it appears there aren’t any available just now.  Everyone is “out of stock”.

Here I am, cash in hand, and can’t get exactly what I want.  leSigh

Not really a rant, but a question for the big box stores- what's up with your prices?

Right now, I am doing a small project in my back yard, which needs lumber- so to keep it simple, I'm getting 10 2x4-10ft.  Easy.  We have a local lumber yard, and I know they deliver, so I shot them a note asking to remind me of the delivery cost.  Reply- it's part of the on line price.  Cool- $5/board plus tax, and it's in my back yard by the weekend.  Cool.

Just out of curiosity, I look at Lowes to find out how much this service is costing me.  The base price at Lowes is $5.88 per board.  Then I look at HD- and their price is $6.05/board.

So instead of trying to figure out how to get 10ft lumber home (which is harder than it seems, since my trailer is out AND I don't have a car to pull it), I'm actually saving money by having it just delivered to my back yard by the local company.

What's up with that Lowes and HD?  You are supposed to be the "warehouse" stores that save people money.  When it's cheaper to just stay with the local company.  By a pretty wide margin when you factor in delivery.  Crazy.

If I am doing a minor project, HD or other big box stores have the stuff I need in a convenient, high priced setting.  If I am building a garage, I'm going to a locally owned lumberyard, which has bundles of 2 x 4's still strapped in their as shipped state, so they have not all turned into propellors. I think it could be compared to buying your steaks at Safeway, vs buying them at the butcher shop.

So after working late into the evening last night, the Rampage is back together enough to move (and, more importantly given the hold-up was a broken brake hard line, stop...) under its own power such that it could be pulled out of the garage and into the yard. This should, technically, be a minor win... but a) the brakes are REALLY soft despite using the vacuum bleeder on all four corners, so I will probably have to re-bleed them the old-fashioned way- meaning I'll need help, and b) it's kind of hard to be that excited when the point of this wasn't 'get the Rampage back together so I can enjoy driving it' but, 'get the Rampage out of the garage so the garage can be used to either store things for the Dancer's non-profit's charity tag sale this Saturday or, in the case of bad weather, actually have the sale mostly in the garage.'

Hence with the vehicle now out of the garage, this afternoon/tonight I'll have to clean up the garage as best I can. Tomorrow evening will be spent moving everything from the various places around the house out to the garage in prep for the sale, and then we'll have to be up early Saturday to set up and spend the day running the sale (assuming it doesn't, as is currently predicted, rain...).

And another perfect day for riding my bike in is wasted because I had to drive the QX4 in to get a table we need for the sale from a friend here at work.

Getting a Bajan passport renewed simply takes too much time for anyone with a full-time, regular hours job to be able to do it without booking a vacation day or two. I've spent a total of 5 hours waiting so far over 2 days. The first time I got in after 1.5 hours, was sent back out because the first desk I made it to screwed up, this time 3.5 wasn't enough. And to get the 1.5 hour wait, I had to get an appointment 2 weeks in advance, and now none are available for a month and a half. You'd think a country starving for jobs could maybe employ another officer or two so that they don't waste so goddamn much of their citizens' time, thus improving their own productivity, it seems like a win-win right? What's the point of ramping up sales taxes like there's no tomorrow so that we don't have to touch our rick-folks'-dream income tax brackets if we can't pay for that?

Wish I could help vote in a party that would change that, but none of the big 2 that have a shot at winning are interested, so this morning I voted for Kodos.

And now someone has brought me a laptop from home to fix. I don't mind doing that, but this one literally smells like E36 M3. Did somebody E36 M3 on this laptop? It has a lot of weird brownish streaks on it. No, don't even go over it with a damp paper towel before you bring it to me, that's fine.

Dear boss:

I understand just how badly you want this project, really I do.

But we can’t make EVERY point in EVERY section of our proposal.

We can’t bold, highlight, underline, and box out ALL the text.

You can’t tell me to streamline the writing and then give me 6,000 MUST-HAVE points to cover.

You can’t put 10 pictures on a page AND have them be big.

And the truly infuriating one - you can’t IN THE SAME BERKING BREATH tell me how much better our competitor’s clean, clearly organized, and crisply-written proposals look.

You’re an architect, for berk’s sake.  You should understand this E36 M3 by now.

First, I had to google what a Tommy Robinson was, and then I found a never ending supply of stories about his being arrested for some sort of douchebaggery outside a court.

not sure of this is minor or not.

With two new casinos poised to open/re-open next month, the managers and directors at work are trying to figure out how to make sure we are properly staffed. Working in entertainment, we rely heavily on a group of "Casuals" who are badged at many casinos and can be called in for work. With the new casinos and their incoming acts, this small pool of talented people may be about to dry up or at least get very shallow.

to counteract this, work wants to make the full-timers, like myself, work mandatory 6 day weeks for the entire summer. As it is, our days off are either Monday and Tuesday, or Wednesday and Thursday. nobody has off Friday or Saturday. No shows happen on mon, tue, wed, or thursday except for our regularly scheduled comedy and that is already staffed by full timer.. so how exactly is making us lose a day off supposed to help?

If need be, I do not mind working 10 or 12 hour days on the weekends, that is when they need us.. but I am not losing an entire summer of sailing due to our boss's bad decisions. It's bad enough my immediate supervisor thinks that work should come before family.
